A few of you on here have been keeping up w/me and know that I have been having some serious issues w/my Dr. and was let down pretty hard at the last Pain Clinic I was referred to. I am still trying to figure out what I can do about that but I have another issue on top of everything else now.

For the past few days I have been getting pretty bad tooth aches in three of my teeth, all on the right side of my mouth! There is one up top that is hurting and now two on the bottom. I have always had problems w/my teeth and have had so much dental work done that I couldn't even list it all out here...

Between the horrific back pain and these stupid Fentanyl patches that wear off 24 hours early, I now have excruciating pain in my mouth to boot... Man, I tell you, it is just one of those Monday's that really suck.

Sorry to whine but I felt like complaining about something other than just my back pain! There is nothing quite as exquisite as tooth pain (I am double nerved in my jaw so I have dealt w/quite a bit of tooth pain over the years) but the really sad thing is that, at times, it is an almost welcome distraction from the constant grind of back pain. Cheers!

Dear Skrape,
     *warmest of huggs!!!!*
I understand. I really do. I know oh how I know it hurts. Im gonna give an idea? If it silly or out of place, let me know.
I am about to imbark on dental implants for my entire mouth. I have already dumped over 22,000.00 in my mouth before the unfortunate "Month from Heck"happened. I had to look in to dental implant system. See.. I grew up in extreme porverty, so my first dentist I was 21yrs old. Initally, I had to get alot of work done. Then March 2009 hit long after all that work was done and oh my gosh my teeth literally started crumbling out/off.  At this point, Implant system  is the best long term choice for me. You might want to look into implant retained dentures... I am told that alot of differant types will be used in my mouth, the oral doctors/surgeon were worried about the "structure" "long term appearence". I was told not to worry they will take everything into consideration and they have. Suprisingly, it is rather inevpensive too. Okay, that was all I wanted to say. Maybe a good idea for you, maybe not.  blush

I like to think of it as "layers" of pain. One on top of another. I have to get a crown replaced; part 1 is tomorrow at 8am (yuck). In a way, I find the strongest pain is the one that's noticed and "felt" the most and other pain fades a little (for short periods anyway) into the background. But it doesn't stay there!

I do understand!

Skrape.......I'm no dentist but I have had lots of grief with my teeth over the years.Seeing that your tooth pain has gone from one upper to two more on the bottom sounds like some sort of infection to me.My dentist has warned me that the pain meds I take can mask tooth pain until by the time I go to see him, the infection has really set in.Hope you can get to a dentist soon and get your mouth looked at.Who needs the extra pain?I feel for you.Take care and may God Bless.

Thanks guys! It is always good to know I am not alone! I have a theory that tooth pain hurts so bad cause it has a very short length to travel before it hits the pain center it your brain! I'm glad my back is that much further away. LOL

Hi Scrape,

Boy, I don't envy you at all. Toothaches are just MISERABLE!! I only had a real toothache once - when I was in elementary school & cracked a tooth, but I just remember it being hell. My mother has gone through a lot of tooth problems lately, & she every time she has been in so much pain, that just passing air over her teeth sends her jolts of horrible pain! I do hope that they can finish your tooth work soon & that you will start feeling better!

I know that you have mentioned your issues with the fentanyl patches before -- have you spoken with your doctor about this yet, or at least getting some kind of break through med? I'm on fentanyl patches as well, but sadly, I couldn't tell you how long they last for me, as they provide no relief at all. I'm at 150 mcg/hr currently, and if I didn't know I was wearing the patches, I wouldn't know that I was wearing anything (but that's the way I am with all pain meds, it seems). I hope your doc listens to you & adjusts your patches accordingly.

Feel better!

I'm so sorry you are having problems with your matter how bad our CP is Headaches and toothpain are unbearable on top of what we deal with daily!

There is a Product call Ultimate Gum Solution that has been recommended to me by my Dentist and Dr. has proven to be a sure help for gum disease and tooth problems.  I just ordered it so I can't give a personal testimony but thought I would mention it to you....its a lot cheaper than dental fees and maybe worth trying!

Hope you feel better soon!

Skrape sounds like to me you have an infection I get them and they HURT. As mentioned above it is a very short path to the central nerves going to be brain. My dentist told me that a few months ago. As also stated its true the infection can and will get worse if your taking pain meds without antibotics.

I hope you run to the dentist!!!!
