Unhappy, Tony just wanted to know what happened to you way back when to put you on SSI. You don't have to tell us but we are here to support you and WOW what a list. I noticed also that you are on very little meds to. I would like to know how you are doing it.

Unhappy: I didn't think you got approved based on the most updated. I was just wondering what you did get approved based on, that's all.

Welcome here to Healing Well and welcome to the First Timers Club (although you beat me there by a looong margin).

PAlady,

THANK YOU for the warm welcome! I'm not sure if I introduced myself or not hehe I started on here a little over a year ago and wasn't posting so much just mainly in the GERD and post op Nissen thread so if I did intro myself it was there blush   I will think about doing an intro though I am already feeling a little judged  cry

Tony,

Back then I had gotten approved for a few different things. MAINLY and what I'm willing to share at this time would be the severe GERD/ acid reflux disease that I had. I had never had an ounce of heartburn in my life until I was pregnant. I was then on Proton Pump Inhibitors for a few years that started to not help along with A LOT of vomiting of stomach acid. I started having tests done including an endoscopy that had shown esphogitis from the eroding that the acid had done. I also had been suffering from Insomnia years before I applied. And I had severe social anxiety/panic disorder OCD, Depression & phobia's. Sooo in the end I had a few short lived jobs due to all of these issues.. no one much less a 17yr old can get up at 5am to go to work when they go days without any sleep and going to work throwing up after taking a drink of water because the burn was so bad and the anxiety's wowza through the roof I started looking at the ground when I spoke and would sometimes choke on my own words I would skake and feel dizzy and faint which wasnt good since I mainly worked in Restraunts! OCD and phobia's take over your life... it got so bad I didnt want to touch the menu's to hand them to people because I would think of how many germs were on them from the last person that touched them. I hope that this gives some better insight as to how and why I got approved back then.. As most people know it is very hard to get SSI and as I said I was lucky to get approved on the first try and so quickly but I did get awarded my SSI because I proved my case with all of my medical files and by the doctors they sent me to who found other things that I'd prefer not to discuss at this time.  Thanks sad

Hara,

I am not on very many meds right now because I am in between PCP's have not found one yet to transfer to.. I am getting the Ambien and pain relievers from my Neruologist. I have a few specialist's that I see and thankfully I don't need a pcp to see them. I have gotten much more help from the specialists then I ever did from my family doctor. And I'm not really sure how I'm doing it... I am just trying my best to hang in there. I have many upcoming appts and I pray that somethings will help. idea

UnHappy, I am a single mother to and I know how hard it is and the fear of never being able to pick up your child when you want to. I had a Bout of what the doctor told me 15 years ago was Rheumatiod Arthritis. I was so swollen that everything hurt and it even hurt to walk. My hands were about as big as a little bananas.

I was scared out of my mine then one day it all went away and I forgot about it until I was dx with Fibro. My current Rheumotologist has don't some RA blood work and an extended RA blood work and I don't have the RA factors in my blood. I don't even have arthritis. But the rest of my extended family on my mom's side does.

Sorry if you feel judged. That was not our intent. I am sorry if you felt judged by me in anyway. We are all here just trying to help eachother. Me I'm an open book, but that's just me.

Unhappy,
I hope you don't stop posting here. It's really a great group, but sometimes there's a post or two that rubs the wrong way. Also- please don't feel you have to share everything. There are things I don't share, as this is a public forum and anyone could access this info. Just share what you want to.

BTW I was just diagnosed with Barrett's esophagus with mild dysplasia, and just started on Nexium 40 mg. twice/day. I'm nearly 60 and only had very occasional heartburn until the past several months. And I just lost my health insurance. I know anxiety and the stress of chronic pain sure hasn't helped! I've been posting a bit over at the GERD forum to start to learn more. But I'm starting to have some serious computer problems with the site!

Anyway, please stick around! :-)
