I met with my PCP today and he just shook his head and said the sad thing was, after something that just happened to his wife last week during shoulder surgery, he could believe it. His main concern is who is monitoring the SCS. The fact, no one. We had a great conversation. He had a plan and it surprised me. After my last appointgment with him, he felt a new PMS was going to be needed. He is also on the board for the new Pain Clinic in our small town but they can't deal with the SCS. But in his research, he found me a PMS 45 miles away that has agreed to take my Out of State WC. He examined the incision that is the problem area and said the problem is it is not healed. It is possible that the infection slowed this down. The infection that the PMS did not want to use antibiotics on. As per the surgeon, he advised me that it is mandatory he see me. He said all I need to do is call and remind them there has not been a followup and that it is required. He does not feel the visit will make a big difference because it has to heal before they will know anything. His advise, call the surgeon just to keep them updated and if they want to see me great, but the PCP is going to do the followup for me as of now. He will also monitor the meds for now and was upset that through this I ended up going without meds. He was concerned with withdrawls but since my PMS would not put me on much it was not a big issue but not one that should not have happened. Now I can start the process of reporting the PMS.

Dear FatherJohn,

Good Evening! *hugg* I hope you are feeling a lil bit more comfortable? shakehead   I am relived that your primary care physician has a course of action. Finally that tremedous burdon can be lifted from your shoulders somewhat. Though I don't imagine the process of reporting a doctor would be easy.. Did you hear anything about the funding for the school?  To have time for yourself AND a doctor that will help?   scool    Gosh that would very nice

Fatherjohn,

YEA!!!!!!!!! yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

I am so glad you will not have to rely on that PMS for any of your health care. Some states allow you to report a complaint via the internet. Do some searches for your state licensing board and see what their procedures are.

And three cheers for your PCP!!

FatherJohn, I am so happy for you. I am glad that your PCP will be helping you with your meds as you should have never had to suffer like you were made to. I am also glad he found a PM that agreed to take your out of state WC, that is great! And the fact that it isn't too far away is also a plus. So do you now have antibiotics for the infection? And what was the white stringy thing you mentioned before that was hanging out?

I agree that you need to get the paperwork done to report this incompetent doctor! I am sure that the process is stressful and hard, but it does need to be done. You are absolutely right to do this. He should not be allowed to treat you or any other patient in the way that you have been treated!

I do hope that you have new meds now and are getting some relief for you pain. It was a long time coming to say the least! You should not have been left to suffer with NO meds. I wish you a low pain day soon.

Congrats, Father John. Finally, it sounds like relief in more ways than one.

As anice asked, what about the white stringy thing hanging out of the incision?

I meant to chime in before and suggest that I have had similar, which was indicated by my doctor at the time as being a drain for the incision.

Might yours be similar? Simply a drain they failed to tell you about?

Could I ask if there was a prior post on this subject? Seems I may have missed the beginning?

Dani, PAlady, Anice, & Tony, it does feel good to know I have options at last. My PCP started by making sure I had pain meds. He knows me and trusts me and asked what I wanted because he knows that I have tried about everything at one time or another. I made my suggestion and he stated he could go along with it and if I had problems or if it was not working, I coulod return and we would re-address it. The white thing hanging out is part of the material they used to stitch up the inside. It should be gone by now but that shows it has not healed properly. He feels it will and will continue to watch it.

Crohnspatient, There was a post that in on the next page or two that is titled Quackologist strikes again. This whole episode started after a SCS implant. You can see more there. Blessings!

Hi fatherjohn,

I'm so glad that you were able to see your PCP & that not only is he going to take over your case again, but he is doing some footwork for you to find a new PMS who can take care of that SCS! It sounds like you had a great visit! I hope you will start feeling better, now that you have meds again. Now you just need to see this evasive surgeon & get the rest of your problems fixed up! Hopefully that will happen sooner rather than later, so that you are good to go!

hugs,
Skeye

Hi Fatherjohn:

I am so relieved that your PCP is taking such good care of you.  That surgeon should be made to go through exactly what he put you through so that he will never do that to someone again!!!

Tony, out of state wc is work comp. I am on a permanent work comp claim from one state and live in another. The Drs in the state I am in refuse to take out of state work comp cases and according to the state, they have the right to not accept these patients. Even my PCP has told me that he is no longer able to accept patients with out of state work comp. They say the it is due to too many non payment issues as well as waiting to long to get paid.

Lorie, Susie and Skeye, It is indeed a good feeling. Just not dealing with the stress is so good. I know when people are going through difficult times thye stress makes it worse. Now I move on to the next issue. My son's last day here is tomorrow. I am going to try and take the day off and spend it with him. It is also my daughters last day of playing with horses at the fair. Sounds like a good day to take off.

Fatherjohn:

I just wanted to let you know that I will be thinking about you and your family tomorrow. It must be so bittersweet - on one hand such pride, and on the other fear & trepidation. I wish your son a safe, speedy return!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy your day with your children!

Susie & PAlady, Stop and smell the roses or coffee. I started a project last year after surgery and when the surgeon had me in PT. I tried to be careful and build a shedd. I had some students come over when I needed things lifted. At the same time I wanted flowers so I bought some and had students dig the holes. Now I need to level the yard, reset the auto sprinkers, the shed has never been finished, but I go out side every morning and water my flowers, tomatoes, peppers, gr. beans and herb garden. They are all in pots that are raised so i don't have to benmd over. I have my coffee while I water. My son wanted to help finish the shed while he was home but his girlfriend to priority. I guess I know where I stand. I will take most the day off but have to be in later tomorrow.

Lorie, it is bittersweet. He is our oldest but also the one that we feel needs to grow up the most. I tell him that he needs to grow up fast and stay out of trouble. I told my boys a long time ago that when they thought they could whip me it was time for them to move out. He talks about how many push up, sit ups and how many miles he can run but says that there is no way he could whip me. Physically he could but the respect he has would not allow it. He is a pretty good son. I don't show to much emotion when we talk about him leaving because his mom is not dealing with it well. I'll show mine when it is just him and me. I took him with me (he was in uniform)to run some errands and it was great to see the number of people who kept coming up to thank him for serving. We are proud of him. He is trained to go out an look for the enemy. The moto of the group he is with is "first in and last out".

FJ,
Once he returns safely, maybe we could put him to work on seeking out lousy doctors and dentists! :-)

FJ,

It's sure great to hear the news about your Dr's! Sounds like the light at the end of the tunnel is finally shining on you. Today will be very important to your son and your little rider too! I hope your wife can enjoy the day and not get too emotional, I know it's very hard on her.

We got back to Fla. last night and are fighting the jet-lag this A.M. I'll post later about my trip and my pains. I'll also try to upload the photo of us in Seattle and figure a way to get it online somewhere where everyone can see our handsomeness!

Have a GREAT day>>
Love You Man!!

Pete
