PA,
So sorry that tooth is still giving you hell! I'm sorry I haven't been here to support you while you have had the "bad tooth blues." I think the karma is getting me for not checking in on you sooner, yep, I've got a tooth acke! GRRRRRRR! I had a headacke onmmy left side for about a week now and even told my wife, I'll bet a tooth is acting up as I have no explanation for this pain. I think all the stress yesterday had my BP so high it started my tooth to hurting. It's the same tooth as the one I lost last winter which split in half from top to bottomus! I think it's happened again and if so, this will be the fouth one! I hope it doesn't get too bad over the weekend as I'll try to get a dentist on Blue Monday!
So sorry to be talking about my tooth on your tooth post! Just like me to hyjack your tooth blues party! I will say a prayer that the antibiotics kill whatever is in there!!!
Your soon to be toofless buddy>
Pete!

PaLady, I am so glad someone will be coming tomorrow to look at the leak. Hopefully he can fix it. I know you'll be relieved to have atleast one less problem to deal with.

I am glad you were able to nap. I know you sure needed one. I am still thinking about you and wishing you rapid healing. I agree it is taking a long time. What antibiotic did the dentist give you today? Hope it is a strong one and will knock that infection out fast. I am glad you have the percocet. I know that has been a big blessing during all of this extra pain you've been suffering with.

Laurie,
Happen in 3's? I passed that a long time ago!! LOL I think it's 3 X ??? for me right now! Maybe those vibes from WB are going to someone else. Hey - WB - make sure they're coming EAST!!! :-)

I haven't been able to reach my goddaughter today to talk with her husband, but I know this sounds strange and I'm not ungrateful but I'm a little nervous about having him come and try to take things apart. I only have one bathroom!!! And he's a sweetheart but I've watched him work on things before. He has to tendency to start and then take his time! If it was something very small, like in the guts of the tank, that would be ok, but anything involving moving the toilet or taking it apart ..... I don't think he's the right guy! I love him dearly but he's young and doesn't understand the need for some of us for a bathroom sometimes in a hurry!!! Thank goodness I can still use the thing and have my water on. I may try to find another relative who's more into plumbing stuff. I have called a local plumber and they won't charge too much to come and check it out and fix a minor problem (I wrote down all their rates). If it's a big thing (I'm scared about it being a pipe in the wall, or needing a new toilet!!!) then I don't know what I'll do.

I'm just so scared for my health right now.

Laurie - you take your time!! I think maybe if I have more dental work I SHOULD ask for some fangs. There are a few people on the planet I'd like to "turn" if you get what I mean! LOL What if we could walk into our doctors and dentists offices and if they get funky with us just click out those fangs????? Do you think we'd get better medical care then? Food for thought. (We could buy some fake ones and when the doctor walks out for a bit like he did with Pete, when he returns Pete could have his fangs out!!!)

Anice, Pete, thank you both as well! Pete, looks like we're not going to be eating much with these teeth of ours hurting!

Hugs around,

Is there some weather front that has been blocking my vibes, I have been aiming them East, is there any mountains that could be blocking them? I have them on high intensity, I will just keep trying! Hey does anybody know anything about Citalopram HBR 10mg, my counselor suggested that I might want to consider trying an antidepressant, as I have been feeling very depressed lately and have been having some symptoms, so I asked my PCP this afternoon and she wrote a script for Citalopram she said it would take ten days or so before I should notice any difference, and if I didn't like it or it didn't help then she would give me something else if I wanted it. I was kind of surprised as I all I did was mention that the counselor I was seeing said I might want to consider taking an antidepressant and my PCP didn't even ask me any questions but just said she would write a script for this, and then she wanted me to come back in 30 days to see how I was doing on it! So does anybody know if it works? or has any unusual side affects?

White Beard,
You know, we have had some wacky weather fronts coming through these past few days! Broke a record high temperature on Sunday (only second 90 degree day this entire summer, and the last one was in June!). Very hot and muggy today, bad storms, possible tornado touch down just south of here (was that your vibes????? LOL). Supposed to be clearing up by Wednesday so hopefully they'll get through.

Something is blocking my brain about that antidepressant. I'm going to do a little research - but I wondered since you were starting on one did you discuss cymbalta at all? I can also help some with pain.

BTW if your vibes can't get through, just send me some fangs!!! ;-)

PaLady
p.s. Ok, WB, now I know why the name didn't immediately click. It's the generic for celexa. It's one of the newer SSRI's. There is an extended release version, lexapro, should you decide you want to stay on this. But if you haven't filled the script and you've never tried cymbalta, I'd call your PCP back and ask if you could try that first (although you may want to check your insurance - some make you have trials of other anti-depressants before they'll pay for the cymbalta, but if it's prescribed for pain instead of depression you may be able to get around it).

Celexa probably has fewer side effects than some of the other SSRI's (prozac, zoloft, paxil).

Just FYI - cymbalta works with more neurotransmitters than just the SSRI's. It combines SSRI's and SNRI's (serotonin and norepinephrine receptors) and that's why it seems to help more with pain. But as with any meds you know the story - everyone is going to be different.

10mg is also a low starter dose, so if it doesn't work you just may need an increase. With cymbalta the starter dose is usually 30 mgs., but 60 mgs is usually needed to help with both pain and depression.

Hope this helps and that I'm still making sense at 2am!

PPS. WB I see you're online now. I hope you start a thread of your own and tell us what's happening with you. I have a feeling you could use some support and aren't asking for it. wink

PALady

Thanks so much! I have all my books packed up and are not easily accessable right now!  So I can't look this med up and find out all the stuff about it! The med was not given for the pain, although if it helps it that would be great! I have asked for it because...well...this whole ordeal is kind of taking its toll on me, you know the last few years I have said I really don't know my wife anymore, but lately I am seeing a side of her I did not know existed! You know I am just kind of afraid she ( wife, ex to be or whatever) is just going to kind of stick me with everything. We have a big yard and I can mow using the rider mower and just mowing for short periods of time, and she would do all the hand mowing and weed eating and trim stuff. Now she moved into town, she has decided that she is no longer going to do any of that any more. But I can't do it and it is hard to find anyone that will do yard work, and the ones that will do it want a small fortune for their labor! Also She doesn't think she should have to pay on anything to do with the house, Lake association dues, mortage, property tax,, and all that. It is not cheap living out here, and until we sell the house, somebody has to be here, and do the up keep of it!!. I did not move out because I could not aford to pay for the up keep of two different places. But she just up and did it, and now she is gone,( which is fine with me as long as she helps keep the place up and pays her share) but that is the big hitch in it all! She doesn't want to pay!  I do not want to wreck my good name or anything because of her! And unfortunately everything we ever had was all joint in both our names! It is like I told my Lawyer I have tried to bend over backwards to be fair and even assist her in this, and all I get is  messed over! It scares me, and the thing is  when the house is sold she gets half of everything! But if this house doesn't sell soon and I am stuck with everything, well???????? It is not a good situation!  With my increased pain with my neck and the problems with the fusion.......I think I have said to much! I was hoping this divorce would be all over with by now, but she has decided to be greedy and try and make me the bad guy! So far I have refused, to play that way, it is not in my nature, I am not the bad guy in this!  Even though I am the one who filed, this divorce was not my fault!

PALady I am sorry for venting on your thread!  I really do hate taking any more meds, and I am not excited about taking this one, but even though I have the counselor, and that helps me allot, but I know I am experiencing some of the symptoms of depression, and it would help to have something  to get me through this period! So I have mixed feeling about taking this. The Doc did say if this didn't work I could try something else! They gave me the Celexa  yesterday 30 days worth, my co-pay was three dollars. But I haven't taken it yet!

Thanks for all the information and help PALady! I really do appreciate it!

White Beard,
I almost started a new thread for you, but since all the info. was here I'll leave it here right now. I want to be sure you see it, but don't worry about hijacking the thread! It's getting kind of long anyway, and so skeye had started another one, so we can use this for you!

Re: the meds. You can just research on line - try celexa.com, and the cymbalta.com and see how they compare to you. Cymbalta deals with BOTH depression and some pain. I took it briefly and loved it, but the only problem I had was it interfered with my seizure threshhold. I have a seizure disorder, and when I got to the 60 mg. it was the first time my feet felt "normal" since all of this started, but at the same time I started to have some breakthrough seizure activity so I had to stop. I had no other side effects. At the 30 mg. level it helped my mood, but not so much my neuropathic symptoms. I am now on effexor XR (extended release) which is an SNRI as opposed to an SSRI. It's supposed to help with pain a little more than the SSRI's do. I'm not sure it helps much with pain, but it does help with mood and I've had no side effects. Problem is there's no generic yet so I'm not sure I'll be able to continue with the extended release dose. It's so nice when you can take a medication once/day!

What you might want to do first is check your insurance and see if they cover cymbalta, as there's no generic yet. If they do, they might have conditions, such as having to try other anti-depressants first (often a trial of effexor is required by some insurances, but not all). Again, sometimes you can get around it by having the doctor write it for pain (pain as the primary diagnosis, with depression secondary, which it is in most of our cases anyway!), and the insurance may cover it. But it's worth checking first.

about the other issues, if your house is listed with a realtor sometimes they will take over the maintenance - although the charges come out of the profits, but still, it may be worth it for you. AND I'd be sure to keep receipts for everything you're paying for and talk with your attorney about how to do this. Paying for the upkeep should be a joint thing, and if your wife's not contributing her share to any of it or even to parts of this, you want this documented so that when the house sells you get the extra money you've spent back. It's not uncommon for this to happen and I'm sure your attorney could advise you.

Please reach out to us with all you're going through. You don't need to talk about private aspects of your marriage, just how it's all affecting you. You may find you get others with ideas, too!!

Hi White Beard,

I'm so sorry that you are going through such a rough time, both physically & emotionally. Dealing with CP is enough to drain the life force from anyone; I can't imagine how hard it is to be dealing with the issues surrounding your divorce as well! Is there any way that you could bring your lawyer into this? If the profits from the house are supposed to be split evenly, is there any legal way to enforce the even split of the upkeep as well? Try not to be too hard on yourself, you're right, this isn't all your fault. It takes two people to make a marriage. ((((((((((((White Beard))))))))))))))).

PALday and skeye

All I can say it Thank-You so much for all the support and help you have given me! It means allot! My counselor told me that she was not surprised that she was starting to do this, and she said that she kind of expected it to start getting ugly, she said it was pretty common in divorce cases. But she told me that I am taking it to personal, that to lawyers it is just a numbers came, for money. But to me it is personal, I don't want to cause anyone any hurt or pain,  I honestly was hoping ( maybe I am naive and foolish) that we could remain of friendly terms through all of this!  I still care about her! I do not want to be enemies with her! I just could not continue to be in the marriage the way it was. I did not want it to come to this in the first place! I guess that is what makes this all so painful! Anyway I do Thank-You for all your support!

White Beard,
It's going to take time for you and her to form a different kind of relationship. Right now there are going to be a lot of feelings on both sides, and they come and go and manifest in a lot of ways (especially anger in behavioral ways). Try not to see the relationship now as the way it will always be. You both need healing time. Then you will be able to see about being friends, but it is too soon now. It's kind of similar with your daughter.

Just take care of yourself for now, and give it time.

PaLady, How are you feeling now? I hope the antibiotics have started to make a difference in how your feeling. You suffered so much with this. And I wanted to ask you about your plumbing problem. Is that resolved yet. I certainly hope so. And I hope it wasn't too expensive.

WhiteBeard, You know how we all feel about you. You are so good about supporting all of us in our time of need. But please also let us be there for you to help you in your time. We all care for you so much. I am so sorry you are going through all of this. Divorce is never a pleasant thing. But I was hoping she wouldn't be this way to you. You certainly don't deserve it. And I do think she should help pay her share of things contributing to the household. Keep records of all the extra things you are having to pay for. Give this to your lawyer and let him fight it out for you. It would be great if she would do it because it is the right thing to do,but since it is not that way-let your lawyer do it for you...I am glad you got the antidepressant. I do hope you are able to notice a difference. It's good you noticed the signs and symptoms of depression. You have alot going on in your life. And treating it before it gets bad is the right thing to do. I am proud of you for that. Please know that we all care and really do want to be there for you. And we will be.

Anice,
I'm so exhausted I don't have it in me to write it all out, but here's the short form:

I need a new toilet. Tank is cracked. Guy came today and told me in about 10 minutes. They have no cheap ones where he works so I've got to hunt for one, then get someone to pick it up, then call and have plumber return. *($%&*$%&*$%&*

Dentist. Local endodontist squeezed me in on Monday for a consult. He will do his own X-ray. $70 for that. And if he has to go in and re-do the root canal - $950!!!!!!! My cousin is going to take out the credit in her name but she and her husband are leaving for 10 day trip next Thursday so I have to get that figured out before she leaves or wait for her return. This endodontist is the one my periodontist recommended. He evidently is the only one locally who has a microscopic camera to see into the tooth. When I explained it all to his receptionist, she said my dentist should have referred me to an endodontist as the nerves in molars are more complicated.

On the maybe good news front (if I have the energy) I saw in the newspaper and on local news about an outfit from Ohio that's in town for this week only buying gold, silver and collectibles. They usually only deal in wholesale, but because of the recession are trying to help people by allowing individuals to also come in and get better prices (so they say). But I have a few old coins and such as my father used to collect them. He had an auction before he died but not everything sold. I have what was left, just stuck in a closet. But it's all very heavy and I have to find a way to lug it in. It's not doing me any good here, so even if I only get a little bit of money it's better than nothing.

There's more. I think. But I can't remember. Maybe there's not more!! LOL Thanks for asking.

PaLady, Oh, I get more mad at your dentist each time I hear about him. He should have referred you to the endonist in the first place. It isn't right that you had to pay this guy and then go to another specialist to fix the problem that he created in the first place!!!! I am glad your cousin will be helping to pay for it. The costs these guys charge is a nightmare in itself!!!! I do hope this gets worked out soon.

about the plumbing, a new toliet... I have no clue how expensive they are, as I've never had to buy on before. It is something you have to have but it sounds more complex than it should be. But I guess for them to put one in for you it would be one of those top of the line expensive ones. It makes sense. But who are you going to get to buy this thing and bring it to your house? It's not like you can just get it yourself...Maybe if you go somewhere and buy it, someone there can put it in your car. And then the person putting it in will be willing to get it out of your car and bring it in your house.

PaLady, you do have alot going on. I am thinking about you. I do hope that one by one things will soon get resolved. I know you'll breathe a big sigh of relief...And we'll all be happy for you too. Please make sure you are getting enough rest. I worry about you.

WhiteBeard, I am still thinking about you too. I hope you had a good nights sleep. We are all here pulling for you. And we will all be here when/if you need us. You can be sure of that!!!

all I can say is I wish I was there, as I could install a new toilet for you! I really isn't that hard to do! All I can say about your dentist is I agree with anice! It angers the daylights out of me to see how he has treated you! Hopefully better days will be coming along for you!

anice you deserve a big hug {{{{{{{{{{{{anice}}}}}}}}}}}} just for caring an being there for all of us! You always have something nice to say, and your post really are a joy to read!  Thank-YOU!

Well I got my appointment with the neurosurgeon  for the first of September,  and tomorrow I go to court for the first time, it is to establish the grounds for the divorce. My Lawyer is telling me if she is co-operative this could be over with really quickly and it won't cost me any thing more than what I have paid him. But if she wants to be difficult then he said we would fight full force and even try to sue her for alimony.  But it will probably cost me another Grand to do it! But I really don't have any choice,  I have given her as much as I can and now I have to look out for me!

PaLady and anice Thank -You for all your support!

Just wanted to stop by and say Howdy. I have been keeping track of your ordeals. Your situation is one reason I dislike dentists. Anyhow, I pray things get better soon and maybe you are right, August is just one full moon and hopefully will soon be over. We all are thinking of you over at the GERD forum too.

Take care,

Bill,
Thanks so much for stopping over here to post! I never used to dislike dentists - until now. They are starting to rank right up there with lawyers, and may just surpass them before this all ends. Thing is I feel so vulnerable - I mean if this specialist can't fix it then what? I don't want to lose this tooth! Besides the money, this who thing has turned my life upsidown at a time when I have so much else to do. The pain has drained me. The medication schedule has drained me. The money issue has drained me. And I was already drained and overwhelmed!

I wish I could take all of you with me to my dentist appointment and have you sitting in the waiting room - my little army! - and I'd give a few of you some fake fangs so it would look like my very own vampire squad, and this new dentist would know there would be BIG consequences if he screws things up!!!

Thanks to White Beard and Anice and everyone for so, so much support.

Hugs,

PaLady, I love it. We would all be there in the waiting room with our little fangs!!!!And yes, we would be honored to be your little army. I would love to see his face when he saw the waiting room full with all of us...It would be priceless that is for certain.

I do hope you are feeling better. I think about you alot. I would love it if we could all take a field trip one day and get together for a huge party!!! It would be so much fun. It's nice to think of fun stuff like that for a change.

That's funny, I actually have somewhat fangs. My eye teeth are a bit longer than normal.
