the last 2 days I have experienced the most awful pain I have ever experienced so far in my life.

I do not know how I am  making it through, and I dont know what is on the other side.

I had my knee aspirated and all hell broke loose in my body. It  is like all the Lyme and fibro got angry and decided to attack all at once. I have been in bed for 3 days staight.

I have not been to move because of the pain . I noted that even  my fingernails hurt! I also have a  fever (going down now) nausea and twitching. I should have went to the ER, but that is one of places i really try to avoid.

I have a 50 mcg fent patch on  and 15 mg oxycodone while this was happening. i  thought the patch was going to be the med for me. Now I wonder if there is any pain medicine that will help me? is there a stronger oral med to have when these severe crisis happen to use in addition  to a patch"?

I can call my pcp in the am and let him know what happened and see if he can fix me up. meanwhile I am going to have to reschedule my cervical inj that were supposed to be tuesday. See pain doc Friday.

thanks for letting me vent this has been truley awful.

I am sorry you are having so much pain, but this is the place to vent all your frustrations. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. If it is, then maybe you will not have to cancel your cervical injection, as that will also help your pain once you get it! Anyway it does seem like everyone is having allot of pain this weekend! At least you are not alone! I hope you feel better tomorrow! Good Luck to You!

   Miss Melissa!

Hey Girl! *huggs* O knew you were getting your fluid tested? right? Gosh I had no idea it would throw you back in to bed! That is awfull! *huggs* Yes, call doc first thing. Get something to take care of it for sure.

is there a stronger oral med to have when these severe crisis happen to use in addition  to a patch"?

I'm sure there is, until then keep it elevated with compress on it. Jeeze, this is just what you DIDNT need right now.  shakehead

Melissa,

I'm so sorry for the bad flare you are having... I know how frustrating it can be to not be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel (not knowing how long it's going to last, if it's going to get worse, etc).

I would definitely call your doc in the AM... Re: breakthrough meds: it looks like you are on the oxy instant-release; there is MSIR (instant release morphine).... And then there's Actiq/Fentora (the first one is the fentanyl lollipop; the second is a quick dissolve fentanyl tablet)... Fentanyl works really well for me; but it is expensive and many insurances will not cover it because it is still labeled as being for cancer patients only.

I have my regular pain meds, something for breakthrough, I have a few of the Actiq for severe pain flares... and, if that's not doing it -- then it is off to the ER for me.

Anyway, feel better and let us know what your doc says.

Melissa,
I am so sorry the knee aspiration led to so much pain! I truly can understand, as I went for a root canal earlier this week and thought the most I'd have was a little added sensitivity but boy was I wrong! Now everything is in flaring up and I wish to all heck I hadn't had it done, but it is done.

Like White Beard said, it seems a lot of us have had some very rough days lately. I hope things get better for you tomorrow, and definitely call your PCP. Maybe you should call your pain doc even though you're seeing him/her in a few days. Or the person who did the knee aspiration. Did they tell you to expect this?

(((((((((Melissa)))))))))))

Here's hope for a better week for you and many of us!

Hi Melissa,

I'm sorry to hear that you are in so much pain. The body can be strange sometimes. It doesn't like disruption of its homeostasis, so sometimes something seemingly minor can lead to much additional problems! I hope that your body is starting to recover & you are hurting less today! ((((((((((Melissa)))))))))).

hi. i, too have been in some of the worst pain in my life. my pd. refused to give me anything stonger than the hydrocodone that im on for a totally different illness prescribed for me by a totally different dr. she did write me a script for a muscle relaxor. all that did was help e get to sleep at night. it did nothing for the pain. i even woke during the night with pain. she did make an appt. for me with a pain specialist. ive been hanging in there and now my appt. is onle TWO days away! I CANT BELIEVE IM SO EXCITED about A DRS. APPT. i want my pain under control. i just want not to hurt. i hope you hang in there too and maybe you can find a pain specilist to help you. i certainly hope so. i hope we both find some pain relief.....SOON! good luck to you.

Hi Melissa, if you've been running a temp it sounds as if you have some sort of infection. Infections always make you flare, well they make me flare. Maybe its coincidental or maybe they introduced one, how unlucky. Definately go back and get it sorted. I hope you feel better real soon, golitho
