I'm finally getting an MRI on my lower back and hips and pelvis. I can hardly wait. I had to go through the DR I Work with to make My DR give me one. It's just rediculouse. I'm in so much pain now. I've been walking with a can since last Thursday. Oh my DR says "I'll write you a perscription for some pain pills, but we want to try and stay off of them." I'm sitting there and saying to myself: let me whack you in the lower back several hundred times and see if you don't go running for the pain pills.... devil At least I didn't say it outloud. I mean who is he to tell me what I should and should not have. It's my body for crying out loud and I'm in alot of pain and if I don't use my cane on the side of my body that I lean toward I will fall down. I'm not going to play that.

Hello Hara,
It is always a relief to get the treatment/test/medication we are looking for, so I can certainly appreciate your excitement! I hope that they are able to find a cause of this terrible pain you are experiencing. I have had mixed results with MRI's, as far as getting a good diagnosis from them. I too had to beg my Dr. 10 + years ago to do an MRI, and I am sure if I hadnt already been through so much with him he wouldnt have been willing to order it. That MRI was a success; 2 broken bones in the neck and off to be fused was I. My most recent one was not so successful.

Anyway, enough about my experiences. I do hope you get some relief from the results of the MRI, and be sure to tell us what is discovered!

Hara, I am so glad you are getting an MRI. Atleast you will have some answers as to why you hurt so bad. Then, yes you need to be put on something to help you with the pain. It is never ideal to be on pain meds. But it is so much better than trying to get through the day with nothing and suffer so badly. I do want you to discuss this with your doctor. It is too much to bear with nothing. I know my pain has been so high before, well many times, I have been nauseated and have vomited because the pain was so high and unbearable. And I take pain meds!!! So I do understand where you're coming from with this. Do the MRI and then discuss what to do next. If your doctor won't help then, go see a pain management doctor. I wish you the best. Hang in there. When are you getting your MRI done?

I'm not sure when I'm going to get the appointment for my MRI. The referral ppl have to get it authorised and then set up an appointment. I hope it's within the next two weeks before I have to come back to work. I'm also trying to track down some herbs that will or should help with some of my pain. So far Clove and Catnip mashed up and put in a capsol is working to calm me down so I don't feel the pain so much.

I went to tell my Chiropractor what was going on with me and that I am finally getting an MRI after so long of asking. He had me walk across the room and some other things that I could barely do. He says, "Ok I don't want to see you again until you have your MRI report in your hand." I said, "OK." I trust him alot because he also knows my father in a professional sense. I also told him what happened after Physical Therapy.

Hara, make sure you get a copy of the MRI report from your doctor. I was going to a PM doctor years ago when I had the first MRI done on my cervical area and she told me I had a buldging disc at one level. We continued on with PT, various shots, and anti-inflammatory meds with no improvement. I finally went to my Orthopedic doctor that had done my knee surgery to find out I had one buldging disc and another that had herniated. He refered me to a ortho that specialized with neck & back surgeries and I was off to have fusion surgery. I wasted so much time with that quack doctor. If it ever gets to the point where you can't work you will want to have copies of all your reports.

Also, make sure your doctors are aware of any herbal remedies you are trying. Good Luck and hope the MRI can explain your pain.

Hara,
I hope everything goes well for you. Yes, getting copies of your MRI is important because often you have to take them around to different doctors. They're usually on a CD now, but make sure to ask that you want the written report on the CD before you pick it up. That takes a day or two to dictate in most cases. so if you get the CD at the time of the MRI it may not be on it. You can actually upload it to your own computer - unless you have a Mac like me! The ones I have all require a PC. I usually find a way to get a copy of the written report. I wouldn't know how to read the actual MRI anyway - and BTW chiropractors aren't trained to read MRI's, so while he may want to see the report, please don't rely on his interpretation. That's why even the surgeons have them interpreted first by a trained radiologist.

Good luck!

The MRI had better explain something. Yesterday I was leaning a little to the left. Then I heard a pop and snap this morning and I'm leaning a very little bit to the right, just enough to throw my balance off.

I had my MRI today. OMG! I about had a panic attack/freakout right there. They didn't do the DYE thing because I would not have lasted that long. I'm taking a Xanex or something next time, at least something that was a little stronger than I took today. I was so hot and sweaty when I got done I thought I was going to pass out on the floor.

My Lower Back and hips hurt so badly when I got done, it took what felt like forever to get back down the hallway down to my dressing room. I took a painkiller while I was in the waiting room drinking some water before I left. It didn't even touch my pain so I just got up and went home.

The dye thing is called with contrast. Sorry you had such a bad time with the MRI. Alot of people are claustrophobic and can't stay in the tube, maybe next time you should check out an open MRI machine. Was your pain caused by lying still in one position too long? Hope you get some results to answer what is causing your pain and it can be corrected. Don't forget to get a copy, your doctor can give you one when you have your follow up visit. By the way, when is your next visit with the doctor, curious to hear the results.

My doctor is out on vacation so I will have to wait until he gets back. Yes I was on a hard table and I think being in one position made my pain worse. I'm still in pain from yesterday.

HI Everyone, I just got the update on my MRI. Everything looks good except for my big liver and big spleen. I guess the call is Hepatosplenomegaly. Then Mild L5/S1 degenerative disc disease. (Arthritis)

It's no wonder my tailbone hurts all the time. turn
