confused  maybe i should be in the bi-polar space or the fibromyalgia one, but right now im having chronic pain  and thats my biggest complaint. at my appt. i was basically told that my reg. dr., who has been treating me for the last 14 years, has me on way too many depressant drugs. she said that she didnt think any pain dr. she knew would write me and pain meds. because they could kill me, if taken along with the other drugs. she said i have to come off the "bad" ones b4 i could be adequately treated for my pain. im so angry that my dr. put me in this position. every time i went to her office about my pain or depression or anxiety, she would just write me another script and send me on my way. i had no idea that these meds, when all taken together, could cause me such harm. im now being weaned off these benzodiazapams. my mood and anxiety are all over the place. plus my pain is undertreated. im just trying to hang on. my psych. said that it will take some time and that im going to be very uncomfortable for a while. we all know what "uncomfortable" means when a dr. says it. it means its going to be h_ _l. im so tired i just dont know if im up to this, but i guess i will get through it. and i know i will feel better when im through. she said she thinks it will actually help with my pain and that maybe i wont even need more pain meds. its just going to be tough for a while. thanks for listening. i needed to get this out; very therapeutic.

CBear my heart goes out to you. I am glad you saw this dr today even tho you did not get the best of news, it sounds like this dr does have your best interest at heart. Yes, it is extrmely disgusting when we go to these drs and try to trust them
and pray they know what they are doing. Believe it or not it is not uncommon for a dr to not really have that great of an education when it comes to medications. We would think they would know about medication but in many instances such as yours, we find out differently. So, even tho it is going to have a tremendous affect on you, after its all said and done I will be anxiously waiting to see how you feel. I do know if a person is on "too many of the same drug" it can have debilitating effects, getting you off of these is so detrimental to your health and well being, I think you will be surpised. This happened to me many, many yeara ago.
Do try and not get so discouraged. Its not your fault, you trusted your dr. In fact, maybe now is the time to look for another dr. I am not sure how comfortable I would be staying with this person. You might even see if the psych may know of some good drs to ref you to, its worth a shot at asking.
Take care and keep us posted on how you are doing. Hugs.

Hi Cbear,

I'm sorry to hear about the confusion over medications. Were the medications that you were on all prescribed by the same doctor. As CP patients we tend to have multiple doctors working with us at any given time. I've found that if I don't constantly keep my doctors up to speed about my current meds & situation, things can easily get confusing & create problematic situations like the one that you are in. I hope that the med change isn't too hard on you! Hopefully your psychiatrist gave you a plan for tapering off the meds. Best of luck!

I don't really have anything to add that someone else hasn't said already. But I hope that this tapering process goes as smoothly for you as possible. And if you find yourself getting anxious or "uncomfortable" during this process, you know that we're always here to listen and support.

Take care of yourself,

Dear CBear

Good afternoon *huggs* I am so glad that you got to the new Doc, but GOSH! You must feel so, so, violated shakehead   You trusted your doctor for years! *warm huggs* I wish there were some way I could help! Can you drink herbal teas while you are.. slowly eliminating your medications? Celestial seasons makes on called "Tension Tamer".. But I only drink it in evenings. I dont think it would help much shakehead   I cannnot believe the person you trusted for so long betrayed you, and your physical well being . Hang in there and post as often as you need to here in CP! We all care, and we all want to know how you are doing.

*warm huggs*

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
