HELP!! Dr. doesn't know what to do.

I would definately see a PM doctor. I too was seeing a rheumatologist first, did all the testing and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I tried lyrica, tramadol, 3 different muscle relaxers & 3 different anti-inflammatory drugs but nothing helped. When I told her that I wanted to quit working and that the tramadol wasn't strong enough she told me that she wouldn't give recommendations for SSDI and that she did not prescribe narcotics. I was out of there and have been with a PM for the last 5 months. I am now on stronger drugs and have filed for SSDI. We are still trying to find the right mix of meds for me at the PM office but at least I have something to help with the pain. I also do not have fibro as the rheumy said just over zealous arthritis in my entire spine. Good Luck!!

Welcome to our forums. You will find so much support and a new family to go along with it.

My husband made the same statements you just did. He refused for the longest time to agree with me and the doctors that he had fibro. He always stated it was his JOINTS not muscular! His common statement is I'm 39 and feel 95. So close. His pain would get him in all his joints. Hands, elbows, ankles, knees and so on.

So now about 8 months later hes on pain meds, a combo of Ryzolt and codiene. Also taking Savella. Trying to tolerate the last med again for the second time.

He sees a PCP but will end up at a PM doc like myself. Hes happy to deal with the fibro dx for it at least gets him some relief and doctor attention. His RA tests were negative everytime he took it also.

Hes also so stiff he fell down a set of stairs because his ankles were so stiff. He is also like you if he sleeps he ends up getting up because his back is so stiff it hurts.

Just go into this with an open mind.
