Please join us for today's Koffee Klatch. Take a few minutes our of you day to relax, smile and have a bit of fun. Everyone is welcome!

Here's a question for these cooler days we are having in the northern hemisphere... what do you put on your oatmeal? OK, so maybe you don't eat oatmeal but maybe you have another type of hot cereal. OK,cold But what do you like on it???

I love good old fashion oatmeal. Personally I can't get the instant stuff beyond my lips. I tried it two different time, two different flavors and both times, ummm, let say I wasn't able to swallow the stuff. <shudder> But regular oatmeal cooked properly is warm, flaky and delicious. I love it with a good dose of brown sugar and ice cold milk. I love a piece of well buttered toast on the side also! YUMM-O. Guess what I'm having for breakfast!

And you???
Chutzie wink

Well, I can get the instant oatmeal in me! LOL But prefer to cook it. I tend to like it fairly plain, but also put a little cold milk on it! (well, cream would be great if it didn't have so many calories, so I'll stick to milk!).

Here's an image for you - the best oatmeal I ever had was through room service while staying at the El Tovar Hotel on the rim of the Grand Canyon. A balcony room opened up just as I was checking in (my reservations were for one of the less expensive, more rustic locations in the Park!). I couldn't resist taking the room, and room service brought me fresh oatmeal in a crock with a side of whole cream and fresh blueberries in the morning. I sat out on the terrace and savored the food and the awesome view - I'll never forget the experience!

Myself and my kids grew up on my mothers oatmeal.  She would make this for my kids all the time.  Since she died we eat it on occasions.  Its always "Mom make it like grandma"  So here goes.
Make you oatmeal like normal its gotta be regular oatmeal the old fashioned flakes not the quick oats.  When it pipping hot you add a dab of butter, brown sugar, white sugar and cold milk.  The milk has to be poured on top so it floats around the edges.
The way to eat it is start from the outside and make your way into the middle.
Now thats how you old fashioned oatmeal

It's Wheaties pretty much every morning for me.  Many years ago I had a bout with constipation for 8 days.  That was all it took for me to start my day out with fiber.  Of course, oatmeal is a good source of fiber also.  No sugar on my Wheaties though and have to eat them fast cause I can't stand soggy cereal.

I like the "Quick Oats"  not the instant pack type! Anyway I like them made thick as in thick mashed potatoe thick. I then take regular white toast, I butter the toast up really good, and put lots of cinnamon  and sugar on it! I also put cinnamon sugar on the instant oats, then I put the oats on the toast and make sandwiches  out of them! MMMMMMMM good, if you want to spice it up a little add slice bananas!
I don't usually do not like hot cereal and rarely eat it but if I do have to eat it this is the only way I can get it down! But I really do  like this combination!
I am with Jag, I don't like soggy cereal but as everyone know I only eat cereal with Orange Juice on it anyway, but it is not good soggy!

I just ate oatmeal for the FIRST time last week!! It was pretty good. It was already apple-cinnamon flavor, so I didn't put anything on it.
