Yes, Szasz is alive and, in fact, participating in a conference the first part of December--I was going to go but with the surgery, health, blah, blah, blah.... As I stated earlier, I saw him speak at conference and debate the topic of the existence of mental illness with Hillman. It was one of the best things academically I've ever seen. I think he was in his mid-80's and sharp, composed, well spoken, calm and full of confidence. No matter what one thinks of his ideas/theories, you can't help but admire his intellect.

Wow. Like I said I didn't even think he'd still be alive, let alone so active in speaking activities, etc. That's great.

I know his ideas were/are controversial, but I believe his perspectives and insights are extremely valuable. Would love to hear his thoughts on the current health care system.
