It's been a while since I posted about myself, but I still am having a really rough time with my level of pain being at a constant 8/9.

I had a little mishap a few days ago as well. My 16 year old was trying to hand me a plate that had a cup of spaghetti sauce on it that he had heated up (way too long) in the microwave. He thought I had it well in hand, and I did not. The cup of sauce spilled down my front and burned me quite severely. I have a large burn on stomach (about the size of a man's hand), as well as one along the inside of my breast. It was all blisters and burned several layers of skin. It is incredibly painful. I have been treating it with silvidene (sp) cream as well as triple antibiotic ointment, but it was still looking infected so I went to my PCP today and although he was horrified by what it looked like (he even called in a surgeon to look at it), they do not believe that it is infected.

This on top of my back pain is bordering on unbearable. It is making it almost impossible to sleep because every time I move just the littlest bit, it stretches or pulls on the burned skin.

Needless to say, my son feels horrible as well. He is a sweet, sensitive child who never fails to ask me several times a day what my pain level is like, and to think that he has added to my pain is killing him. I try very hard not to show it, but he just knows, he always has.

He has had a rough week as well, he had a tooth crack in half, and somehow got an infected lymph node and cellulitis in his upper arm. The doctor's are completely stumped on how he got the cellulitis as he doesn't have any scratches or cuts. He is a drummer, and taking culinary classes, and was not allowed to do either for the past week. He is responding to his 3rd antibiotic, and the infection has gone down from the size of a softball, down to a large egg.

I hope you all have had a low pain day!

I'm so sorry to read about what you call a mishap - it's a bit more than that in my book! I am so glad you eventually went to the doctor, though, although I'm not sure what they can do to help with the pain from the burn. I have heard it is very painful, and to add that on top of your other pain....well, I wish I had some suggestions for you. about all I can come up with now is to take it easy on yourself - especially with all the expectations people tend to put on themselves for the holidays. It probably hurts to even have clothes rub against it, so if you get caught up in worrying about not being able to decorate or shop or any of those things, try to cut yourself some slack.

Sorry to hear about your son, too. It sounds like you had a cloud that hung over your house for a few days, and i hope it's blown away. I know about those black clouds!

I send you lots of gentle hugs and healing thoughts.

Lorie...I'm sorry to hear about your pain and the burn has to be one of the most painful things to endure. I haven't heard from you lately ad wondered what you have been up to. Give me a jingle on the email or we can hook up by text. Either way, I would like to visit with you. Take care now, and we will talk at you soon.

Hi PaLady, Julie, Whitebeard, & Michael,

Thank you very much for your replies. I wish I could say that I had less pain today, but I can't. The doctor expects that the burns will take several weeks to heal. I'm trying to keep the areas cleaned and covered, but the bandanges don't want to stay. Either my clothing or the bandages seem to rub against them every time I move, and that is making things worse.

I very much appreciate your well wishes, it was very nice to hear from each of you since it's been a while since I've posted. I miss everyone! I will try to keep in touch better.

P.S. Michael, I will send you an e-mail tonight or tomorrow. I would love to visit with you as well.
