Remember back to high school??? OK, for some of us it was like yesterday and for others it's ancient history. There were always classes that seems so stupid to take. What good would they do you anyway! So, in your opinion, what do you think the most useless class in high school is/was?

I guess we ought to hold this to one each or we may bring a server For me it was study hall...or whatever they call is these, home room, free period. But I guess that isn't a class so I would have to say literature. I can understand basic English and composition, but literature?? It only slowed my reading to a crawl, bored the crackers out of me and to this day makes me wonder why people read some of the things they do. We were given a list to choose from and everything on it was fiction. Why in the world when I'm trying to learn math, science, etc.. do I want to read stuff that isn't even true? Ya, I'm a very literal thinker and my own mother even called me boring and for me literature was a waste of time. It also took up the time slot I needed for another physics class...grrrrr. OK, that was in the dark how about the rest of you. What class in high school seemed perfectly worthless?

With the way it was taught at my High School I would have to say the mandatory health class. The biggest reason I felt it was a waste of time was because there was absolutely nothing that was taught in that class that hadn't been taught between 4th and 7th grades, at least twice.

Thank God I had this one English teacher for two of my 4 years in High school! ( we had to have English all four years) anyway I had her my sophomore and senior year of high school, and she would teach 9 weeks of literature and 9 weeks of Grammar and Composition. I absolutely loved Literature, but I hated Grammar and Composition! I never understood it and I was terrible at it! To me it was a complete waste of time! (I know! I know! My writing most definitely shows it now!!!!) Anyway she taught her English classes this way, because she said that if somebody was good in one and not in the other, ( which there was always a few of us, that were that way!) that we would not fail the entire semester! She was my Savior!!!!! That saved me from flunking a whole semester of English, and....... it saved me twice!!!!! Also luckily for me, this instructor also loved Poetry,...... she was one of my all time favorite teachers in all of High school!

Awwwww, Chutz! Literature, my favorite. You'll like mine, MATH! I thought math was useless back then and I was right, other than basic add/sub, I've never had to used any of those complicated formulas I was forced to memorize--but, I'm just a simple person who likes to read tongue

By the way in my senior year I had study hall , Gym , and study hall, ( the last study hall I had was because I was told I could either drop out of typing class or I was going to be thrown out!) Anyway those last three periods of the day were spent mostly at the A & W rootbeer stand, sipping root beer floats. But that is a whole nother story! smilewinkgrin wink yeah

I went to Catholic school and I think Latin was the class I took that I thought was crazy at the time. I don't know how I feel about it now but then I couldn't stand it. It was taught by one of our Parish priests who knew latin but didn't know how to teach. Go figure!!!

I'm kind of in Big Lucy's territory! I guess the basic math classes were ok, but anything beyond algebra - like trig. or, heaven forbid, calculus (whatever is that used for anyway??? LOL) were to me a total waste. How I got decent grades I'll never know. I don't remember one bit of it!

I hated geometry. Could not get it. Didn't understand why we had to take it either.
