Do you remember a time when you were growing up...I mean the time when you were young and growing ... did you ever wish you had a different name? I didn't like my name for a long time and wished that I could have a name like one of my friends. Her name was Ingrid. Oh, if I could only have a name as exotic as that. Her father was Norwegian and gave his daughter such a lovely name. But when we went off to college she and I roomed together in a dorm and Oh MY did I decide fast that the name Ingrid wasn't for

So much for thinking I should choose my own name. tongue But I was named for my father of all things...and ya know what??? As I grew older I became very proud of being named after such an amazing man.

If you could have picked your own name, what would YOU have chosen?

I always wanted the name Annette, after Annette Funacello (sp?). A lot of younger members won't know who I'm talking about! LOL I actually took the name Annette for my confirmation name, since that was the one name I got to choose!! Course, you never really use your confirmation name in "real" life!

Nope never wanted another name or wanted to have a name of somebody else. Never really ever wanted to be like some body else either, but with that said, as a kid growing up, I really liked and admired and identified with Maynard G. Crebbs on the Dobby Gillis show! I thought he was cool! smilewinkgrin

Nope, I'm happy with my name. It was pretty unique at the time -- especially the way I spell it.

This is a funny topic for me. I went by the name Linda, then Diane (my middle name), then LindaDiane, then Elizabeth, (my confirmation name.) Yes, PaLady, I really did use my confirmation name for a while when I was a kid hehehe. I was always changing who I was. At the time, every little girl was named Linda, so the school classroom worked with me using another name.

My full name is Mary Catherine and my parents always called me Cathy so I don't know why they didn't name me Cathy. I swore I would never ever do that to my kids I have a Sara and a Kari and call them that. I went to Catholic school and back then the nuns loved the name Mary Catherine....I wouldn't even look up.
