Did you eat cereal for breakfast when you were a kid??? I think many of us did. So, what was your favorite breakfast cereal? Something you got to choose? Or a very 'healthy' one that mom made you eat?? Oooo, bran buds anyone??? shocked rolleyes

No thanks but I did put away my share of the dry stuff and some hot cereal too. Mom bought only healthy food and was rarely talked into something like Sugar Corn Pops <yumm> Now day they are called Corn Pops, ever notice??? Somewhere the sugar fell off the front of the box but not the inside. I could much down an entire box over a long afternoon but I don't. lol... We ate corn flakes which I liked and once in a while we had rice chex. That was a good treat. But when it was cold I loved old fashion oatmeal and cream of wheat. I still like them but the oatmeal can NOT be that instant stuff. It looks and tastes just like the stuff mom used to stick wallpaper to the bedroom walls. I often eat cereal for breakfast and some also at bedtime. If my tummy is cranky a bowl of cereal usually calms it down if I"m hungry.

What was your favorite cereal as a kid? How about now...what do you eat?

I was one of those goofy kids that liked the big bars of Shredded Wheat, lol. Of course I had to put a lot of sugar on it. Now, I am worse than a kid, here is my list of all time favorites; Sugar Smacks, Honey Bunches of Oats I think is the name, its by Post and has almonds in it, yummy, lol. Never got in to the Corn Pops that Chutz likes. There is a chocolate one that I like, I am terrible with the names but I know what the box looks like. I too like to eat a bowl before going to bed if I am a little hungry.

Cereals are so great - they're easy, although I do love eggs and often had them for breakfast on a school morning growing up. I can't remember loving any one particular cereal. I kind of would eat one for a long time until I got sick of it, then start on another - and I do the same today! LOL

In the cold weather I usually like oatmeal but this year it's been cream of wheat nearly every morning, with a little maple syrup for flavoring. When it warms up, it's often cherrios and milk - although I got into adding blueberries to all my cereal every morning when they were in season. Every now and then it's also a rice krispies and bananas kick!

I don't dare keep the sweet ones around as I could munch through a box of them like you, Chutzie! Especially trix! With all my GI issues, the easiest thing is to not have them anywhere within my sight or reach! LOL

Kix Cereal. I loved that stuff for breakfast and also for a late night snack.

Anyone else ever have that sauteed in a little butter. Almost better than popcorn.

I eat Wheaties, with no sugar, pretty much every morning.  Gotta eat my cereal fast though cause I hate when it gets all soggy, I know some people let there's sit so it gets soggy, Gross!!!!  I will also eat Total if it is on sale but it turns my urine green with all the vitamins in it.

Jim, are you saying that you put melted butter on Kix cereal?  Now that's something I would have never thought of doing.  It might be good though.  I know that when I make popcorn balls I like to use salted popcorn.  Gives them a good flavor.

What you do is melt some butter in a skillet or sauce pan and then add the Kix cereal and cook them for a few minutes stirring often so they don't burn until they are somewhat Crisp.

I loved Captain Crunch! Couldn't get enough of it..and ate so much of it at one sitting, that my mouth would be sore from it.

As a kid I hated cereal for breakfast! I usually would eat toast with lots of butter on it. If I would have had my way, I would have eaten bacon and eggs every morning, but my mother wouldn't let me, she would sometimes make me eat cereral usually Cheerio's or what ever those little round circle things are. If I had to eat them them I would eat them plain, I hated to put milk on cereal as it always made it soggy, Yuck! As I have mentioned before, I don't put milk on cereal, I use Orange Juice! I like Cranbery Almond Crunch with Orange Juice on it, I actually like all my cereal with Orange Juice on it and I do not drink or use milk ( other than for cooking) at all!
