Welcome to the forum Brenda. I am currently having diagnostic injections in my lower lumbar area. My pain radiates across my lower back into the hips also. My first injection was into the facet joint at L-5/S-1 this one gave me about
12 hrs of relief. The second was a nerve block injection into the nerve at L-4/5 and this one helped for about
24 hrs. My next step will be to have radio frequency abalation into the nerve at L-4/5 and hopefully I will get many months of relief with this. Nothing is guaranteed as you know with any of this.
I did no have any steroids injected which can give longer relief due to a shingles outbreak after using steroids before but when steroids are included with the numbing agent you can get longer results. These are things you will need to discuss with your doctor.
Are you seeing a pain management specialist? There are so many different types of injections from epidurals to trigger point. What I am saying is that just saying you are having injections doesn't really give us much information. Maybe you could be a little more specific. Was your injection into your hip or the SI joint in your lower back?
Good Luck and hope you find some relief!
