Just wanted to wish you good luck on Monday. I will be thinking about you.  The biggest advice that I can give you is to make sure that you have everything ready for when you return home. I could not wait to get into my bed with "soft sheets".
Second piece of advice is to make sure that you press your morphine button as often as you can. Make sue that you keep ahead of your pain.
I am actually feeling very good today. I has been two weeks now. There are allot of days that I don't remember. I really think that if I did not have the set back with infection and blood clot that I would really be feeling great.
They will get you out of bed on the second day, make sure that you are very careful. Physical therapy will have to clear you to go home, they will not only check to make sure you are physically able to go home, but they want to know who will be at home to help you. You will not be able to do anything for yourself for a while. Did you get a chair for the shower? It worked great for me.
Make sure that you have your meals planned. You probably won't eat much in the hospital. But make sure you drink plenty of water. I drank ensure to keep my energy level up.
One thing my doctor told me before I left the hospital, is to eat plenty of protein. It help with bone growth. I did not know this. So if your not up to eating get the ensure with extra protein. They are very good.
Good luck and please check in when you can.

Good Morning Hydrangea! You are probably a little behind on all the information on me, but my surgery date was moved to this coming Friday the 5th. I'm as ready as can be for it, and have all the home friendly tools that I may be needing. Privey, was so gracious to lend them to me. My wife has an Aunt, that is supposed to be delivering a walker this week.

I'm glad to hear that you are doing better now, as I know it is quite the experience! :) My biggest concern is the pain, as I have yet to have a Dr understand that I have a low tolerance to pain, and a very high tolerance to pain meds. When I had my last Epupidural, that Dr, got the surprise of his life, and so did the Dr who did the Discogram. So again, that is a very big fear of mine.

I did read up on the Red Man Syndrome, and it was interesting reading. Did they take you back to the hospital in an Ambulance? Those clots can be very scary, and that is another worry of mine as well. That is what caused my Heart Attack in 2002. Hydrangea, if and when you feel up to it, please email me, or maybe we can go to a chat room to visit Take care of your self first, and get the rest you need. Make sure your walking enough too!

We have several members from the church, that will come at a moments notice, if needed to help either Deborah or I, and a friend of ours from KC is coming to stay a week with us. My sister will be here to spend a few days with me, and give Deborah some relief, so that she can do the mommy thing, and give her some free time.

A friend of mine just had a fusion, and he said when he takes off the chest brace, he feels like his spine is floating around. Do you have the same feeling with yours?

Thank you so much for remembering me, and I have talked about you with my wife every day, wondering how you were getting along. I hope we both have a successful outcome on this. Bless you, and I will continue to pray for you.

Your Buddy!
