My thoughts are with you & your cousin. Having gone through something similar in the family recently, I know how hard it is, even when the news turns out being good.

Thank you so much! What a surprise to find this thread. I just popped in briefly before going to take a nap and saw all your well-wishes. Thank you Chartreux for starting it, and everyone for adding your kind thoughts.

My cousin is doing well Matter of fact I just talked to her. She's home (amazing how short the hospital stay is - only 1 night). Her pain is pretty minimal, and is being easily manged. She's mostly sore, and we're all relieved as the two lymph nodes that were removed were both clear of cancer, and both small lumps were found early. She will have some chemo and radiation because it was an aggressive form of cancer, but she is doing well.

I was doing well until last night when I got home. I'm sure I was just tense because of everything and all it took was bending to put a small dish in the dishwasher and wham - muscle spasm time. So I've been home with heat off and on, muscle relaxants and just want this muscle to calm down. I should take a warm shower, but I'm just too tired right now! LOL So I'll finish this and crawl off to my nice tempurpedic and see what happens later.

Thanks again, everyone!

What a wonderful and caring family member you are. Your cousin is blessed to have your support. My extended family is l ike a pack of dingo's. Everyone seems to be out for themselves. Their idea of love and support is to take the weakest link and leave their in the dessert to die!

Please make sure you take care of yourself and do not over do it. We don't want to see our PaLady a wounded warrior. Please keep us posted....

Myr thoughts and prayers go out to the two of you.

Thanks Stella and JoAnn.

As an update, my cousin got her drains and most of the bandages removed yesterday, and got to take her first shower today. She's feeling much better, eating, but like many of us having to take a stool softener and eat prunes (I already warned her about the downside of that LOL) and is for the most part only needing tylenol for discomfort. She has vicodin, but doesn't need them. I think she's just so relieved. She's still tired but getting better with each day. I visited with her last night, and talked with her today. Lots of family bringing her food, so she isn't wanting for anything.

Stella - I must admit I do have some wonderful family members. They have been very supportive of me, too. It's interesting because this particular cousin has always been very healthy, but at age 67 is facing her first major health crisis (tho' it appears to have been caught early) and she has said to me she'll never minimize anyone's pain again. She is really learning a lot from her experience. She will have to have about 4 months of chemo, and then radiation, because the type of cancer she had was an aggressive form that doesn't respond to tamoxifen. She already has her wig, though, but I think losing her hair will maybe bother her the most. Her doctor told her to expect it by her second chemo treatment.

Thanks everyone!

I take it that you got your muscle spasms under control! I'm glad to hear that your cousin is feeling better but I'm sure that the chemo & radiation are gonna be very trying on her so give her lots of hugs and encouragement from us.

Take care of yourself too and keep us posted.

Thanks, Jag,
The muscle is slowly relaxing - with a lot of work on my part. You know what happens once you aggravate one. And this is right where the incision is from my fusion surgery, so I suspect scar tissue is involved. I found some lidocaine patches I hadn't used and put them on and they help some, but the muscle is very "touchy" right now. Unfortunately, my cousin doesn't have great chairs at her house, so even though I don't sit long I pay a price. It's a price I've decided to pay, although I will try to balance it all out. Just like all of us do when we have people or activities that are important enough to pay a price for.

Hugs to everyone,

Hi Pa,
So sorry to hear about your dear Cous! That "C" stuff really sucks! She's lucky to have a Guardian Angel {Yuze} there to tuck her in and keep her comfy! Sorry I haven't been around much lately, I've had a lot on my plate and been down in the dumps and a real poop! My Daddy told me before that dam c-stuff killed him> "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything!" Thats been me pretty much lately.

I've been working real hard on the new batch of paperwork the SSD folks sent me to fill out for my appeal. I feel like I'm writing a novel. Ten questions and I'm only on Q#4 and have 13 whole typed pages already!! Yikes!! I don't know if thats good or bad but I ain't taking any chances and thinking down the road I should have done more, Ya know? I'm hoping to get er done this week.

Other than that everyone is well. Pete Jr. is still in Hati, his is the last US ship there and he can't wait to get home and drive his new car he bought while here over the hollidays. He just got it then got sent to Hati as soon as he got back to Virginia. My older boy is out on manuvers in the Pacifac but should be back in Seatle soon. Then his ship will be in drydock for a year! He's real excited about that. He's been taking college courses and now tells me he wants to be a Physical Theropist! I told him thats a lot of schooling but he says he enjoys classes now unlike back in high school!

My littly Manx kitty is a wild one! There's always a show going on here with her older sister Rose> our dog. They are real buddies! They chase each other around our little house wrecking everything in their path!! The horses are doing great and are glad some grass is starting to grow, so am I w/ the price of hay!!!!!! My wife started riding our Ten. Walker again which makes me happy that he's not just a lawn ornament. My parots are as noisy as ever, still hoping for babbies someday soon!!!!

I got really mad the other day and said to hell w/ it! I went out fishing> OUCH! but it was worth it as it was so beutiful out there in the Gulf. I didn't catch anything, lost one giant seatrout right next to the boat but that didn't even upset me, it was just so nice out there. Saw tons of dolphins and manatees and even a couple otters in the river. So I couldn't walk the next day, big deal right? It was still worth it!

I just saw my doc today, my reg doc. I had bloodwork done last week for the apt. and the lab promissed me it would be there, it wasn't! So no collesterol, liver or thyroid news. I told him I hated the pain guy he sent me to! I told him that he cut my meds and didn't even ask me what was wrong w/ me!!! He actually said he was sorry and he is sending me to another guy he said is better! Geeze I hope so!!! I'll let you know how that works out!

So PA, sorry to jump all over your post! I didn't start out to do that. I geuss I just started blabbing but you know me> talk first, think later!

Big Hugs to you and your Cous! I'll be prayin for both of YUZE!!!

Your Italliano Bud>
