Just a quick "Hello" and hope that everyone is having a good day. My husband and I went on our trip to Branson, Missouri and had a wonderful time. The entertainment there is just wonderful! We've been to Vegas many times for him to go to medical conferences but never sent to any shows because they were so expensive. These shows were great! There is so much talent out there and the people are so friendly too.
We were only there a few days when we got a call from our oldest daughter that my mother was ill and that we might think about coming home. Branson is 12hr. away from home. I called Dad and he sounded so sad, and he explaind that she had been so disorientiied  all day and that she had put one two sets of under pants and outside pant. She had a slight fever and had Dr. Bonasso (my neurologist). She would not stop would not stop cryinng when they got back from seeing her doctor. She is having mini strokes and my dad looks like a truely defeated man.  Mom is so hard to deal with. He got on the phone and just begged me not to come home early from our trip beacause he knew that I needed to get away too. We kept in constant phone and decided to stay the last three days of our vacation. And, of course, ors wasn't without drama.  One evening, I was sure I was having a heart attack! The whole gammat of symptoms; chest pain, vomiting, SOB, could barely walk. And my sweetie pie says, "you're not having a heart attack, honey.  Your pulse is totally normal. Go splash water on your face and come back to bed! Well, luckly, he was right because here I am. I have to have another stress test and echo this year and I want to  stamp an expiration date on my arm so that when I get like that again I can just look ath the espiriaition ! tongue
When we got back from vacation I didn't even stop for home but just came straight for Mom and dad's with my dirty laundry and all. I came here to move in for as long as it takes to get them back on their feet.  My arm had been doing fairly well sice my injection. The pain is still but the  redness coming back with a vengance. I have had two bad falls in the last three weeks have passed. I'm just so exhausted. On vacation I went to bed at 7:30 p.m. every evening.  It may be a while before I can find the time to post again.  I love and miss readind about each of you. Keep hanging in there.!

Nurse2, it's good to hear from you and I'm so happy you and your hubby were able to enjoy a getaway, even for a short time. I've never been to Branson before, but everyone I hear who has gone loves it.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom's health and your dad's sorrow. It's good that you're able to move in to help, but at what cost to your own health? Is there anyone else who can help you out? Volunteers, neighbors, from a home care agency? If you overdo it, what's going to happen if you can't take care of them? I'm not trying to add to your stressload, but you do need to take care of you as well.

I will keep you all in my prayers, and I do hope things turn around for all of you.

Conditions: Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pelvic Pain, Femoralacetabular Impingement (CAM and Pincer), Reynauds, IBS, Interstitial Cystitis, Surgical Adhesions, Ophthalmic Migraines, Severe Hot Flashes (both Surgical Menopause and medication related), plus physically unable to vomit due to the Nissen, and I have extremely tiny veins with a lot of scar tissue...a joy when it comes to having to give blood or get an IV started

Surgeries: Appendix, Uterus, Nissen Fundoplication for GERD, Left Ovary, Gallbladder, Right Ovary, TVT

Medications: Oxycontin, Cesamet, Tramacet, Cymbalta, Flexeril and Clonidine plus Laxaday, Vitamin D and a Multi-Vitamin daily

Hi Nurse2:

It was really nice to see you post, and I hope that you can find a little time here and there to post just enough so that we can support you through this difficult time taking care of your parents. Please do remember that you can't help them if you don't take care of yourself!

You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi, Nurse2,
I'm so glad you and your husband got away, and that your Dad encouraged you to finish out your vacation. I know it was much needed!

I can only echo what others have said about taking care of yourself, but I know how difficult it is with a parent that's ill. See if you can get some agencies to come in and provide some in-home services so you can at least get some respits!
