Oh what a wonderful day we had! I was pooped from the big party on saturday and I slept in for the first time in 9years. Yes, you heard that right! I slept til 8:30am! Can you believe it? When I woke up I was shocked and in a rush to shower! I was going to meet the most wonderful, caring man I have ever met and his beautiful wife!
I had a heck of a time because I had seen his wife Lisa in many videos. I just wasnt sure which jewelry set she would like! So I went with dyed jade in lavender and glass lazer AB cut! I am sure glad I picked that one! I could tell she loved it!
SO off we go to Mr Petes house! I just want you all to know, that the drive to his house is so pictureesque. It is like pages of my romance novels. 100 yr old trees covered in spanish moss. Sleepy small towns. Large yards covered with wild flowers of deep purple and dark pink. Old antebellum houses made between early 1900 - 1920s. Center of the towns have only one stop light in the middle of town, and there is always someone waving and nodding in greeting as you drive by. The smell of flowers is thick and sweet the whole drive down. As we neared Petes house, huge expanses of land began. Every home has beautiful vegetable gardens (Pete included!) and fenced off horse pastures. Every home we saw along the way had someone sitting in a chair or swing chair on their porches, waving in greetings.
When we got to Mr. Petes house the very first thing we saw was Mr. Pete! Oh my heart was jumping! I don't have family of my own (only husbands) But oh it felt like I had waited for him my whole life! Like I was finally home! The girls were so excited they barley waited for the van to stop before jumping out! They said they hadnt seen him in foreeever (one whole month since his last video mail). Both girls took to him immediatly! I got a long awaited bear hugg! Then the most beautiful woman came out of his home. Tall with a quiet elegence. Full of smiles and open arms to the bumblebees! This MUST be Miss Lisa! Petes beautiful and VERY loving wife! By this time I was sure that I really was home! Like it was always ment to be my whole life. Like I had finally found a peice of me that had been missing! I was HOME.
Before we even had much of a chance to say hello the girls ran off to the back or Mr Petes house! And let me tell you! The first thing you notice is that even though it is hott...there is a mild, constant breeze. It feels wonderful with the heavy heat. The next thing you notice as you walk to the back of the house is a georgous pasture. Stretches out and down the hill, then back up again! Very old and brightly colored trees everywhere. The smell of flowers is thick and pungent, but oh so welcome!
Way off in the distance you see 2 VERY Large horses. Literally their manes reach the bottom of the beginning tree branches of a very old tree. Miss Lisa called them down and they came running and oh so happy to hear from her! But as they got closer to the fence where the children were they began to walk VERY slowly. They inched closer very gingerly. Oh the girls were just buzzing with excitment! When Miss LIsa said she would go put them in their stalls and feed them I thought surly my little bumblebees were going jump out of their skinn!
I took their lovies back up to the car (pillow pets) and took lots of video on the way down! Gosh Petes home is georgous! I will be in heavan if I could live there! Its like your are in an entirely new word, where time passes too fast and you want to stay forever! ..By the time I got down to the horses stall I got to see his georgous horses. And folks, they are HUGE. I have NEVER seen such beautiful, strong, VERY well cared for horses. The first things you notice is that both horses have very distinct personalities. Both are quite the characters. Their youngest horse Mr El Dorado is quite the teenager! He is busy busy and always on the go! Anxious no doubt! Their older lady Miss Lilly is a quiet, gentle horse. She was very slow movements and was very tender and careful around the girls. Somehow she just knew to be gentle and careful with the girls and my oh my, they loved petting her. They chatted away while up on the step stool.
After a while we went up to Mr Petes house and Oh! They have georgous burgandy carpets. Have you ever stood on carpeting that feels as cushioned and soft as slippers?? Oh! You know I BEGGED david for that kind of carpet when we left! When you walk in to his house the first thing you notice is he has two, very much in love, bords. One a boy, one a girl. And you know they sound like they have been married their whole life? They sound just like we do. They get fussy with each other out of the blue, they love and cuddle each other constantly, inbetween the little spats and disagreements, of course! Like just we do!
Oh Miss Hannah his little kitten! She is a doll! And FRISKY! Ready to spring into action at the first sign of someone to play with her. LIttle Tessa wanted to take her home with us so bad!!!! Mr Petes kitty Hannah, and his dog Rose have such a cute relationship! She comes and sniffs and knocks over the cat, then miss Lisa, Pete & Hannah all get fussy and tell her No! Then she waggs her tail like her work is complete! Waits about 5 mins and does it all over again! Its the cutest little relationship you ever saw!
But oh no! As soon as I sat down I noticed Tessa looked VERY different! Her eyes were swollen and face was puffy and she had bright red bumps the size of chic peas all over her eyes!!!! (I even said a four letter word, which is uncommon to say the least!) I sprang in to action. Told her not to worry. Miss Lisa went in search for benadryl pills. The men ran to the car to go find some liquid benadryl! I hopped over to the sink, and began washing her down. My mind was racing! What was the culprit? Can't be the dog. Most certianly wasnt the cat, we have 2 at home. What about the birds? No, that cant be because their grandma Cindy has a bird the same color and shape. WHAT was it?!?! Okay, stay calm, ask Tess when she first felt different. She tells me when she went to the barn. HAY? Really HAY? Has to be hay..gotta be environmental. She breaking out at "sweat" points. Eyes, arm pits legg pitts. If it were something she ate it would be mouth and cheeks. Miss lisa comes out with the benadryl pills while I am wiping tessa down and putting cold compresses at her eyes and arm pits! I take the pill and cut a quarter of it off. She hands me 2 spoons and goes for some milk, while I crush up the pill peice and and mixx with water. Tessa Bear, for the record, says she never ever wants to have to take pills when she is all growed up! Says it grown up pills are the worst thing she ever tasted in her whole life! After she getts it down, Miss Lisa gives her some milk and goes to fetch wash cloths. She shows me to the bathroom where I begin to wipe Little Tessa down with soap. By the time I am done wiping her down, the men came with liquid benadryl in hand! PEW! They give her a partial dose (she already had a partial dose from quarter of pill) And I race to the car to get a change of clothing! By the time I get in were are all worried to death for her! I get her into the bathroom, wiper her down one more time with soap, and get her into clean clothing where she finally has her melt down. Oh my brave little bumblebee was such a strong little soul! I was super proud of her! She did a great job! When she is done crying and more than likly the benadryl is making her a bit tired, we bring her out. She has one more melt down, and who could blame her? Bless her little heart! But, Miss Lisa, Pete and David get to talkin...What if it IS just the hay? If that is so, then perhaps we can bring the horse up to his house? So we decided on that. Besides the benadryl is working great by that point (the liquid does the trick in little less than 5 mins, no kidding)I have another change of clothing in the car. So, needless to say that brightened up my swollen little bumblebees day! I got out to the car, change her again, while Miss Lisa went to the stalls to clean up Lilly. By the time she came back with Lilly, Tessa looked much better. Lilly was covered in a thick cotton blanket under the saddle so Tessa never even touched anything that would even remotly have been near hay. Oh she was so excited! I got alot of video. It was the strangest thing thou initally...It was almost as if the Horse knew somehow that Tessa had gotten hurt?? Lilly was so cautious it was like she...gosh, like she knew something was wrong??? In anycase, I did get lots of video of my Oldest little bee with her swollen but VERY happy face!!! And when it was little ROsies turn I thought for sure she would never want to get off of Lilly's back! When little Rosies came back she said she was going to be a animal doctor (She has said for 2 years now that she want to be a horse doctor)!! She wanted to take care of Horses too and she would name her horsey Lilly too! (her horse is a little stuffed horse in a shoulder bag)I took miss Tess back into the house afterword thou. Re scrubbed her down with soap. Her sandals too, and changed her into fresh clothing, bagging up the clothing that had come in contract with hay. This is definatly something we are going to have to talk with her doctor about as soon as we get back! I am almost positive we can de-sensatize her to hay, but I will have to wait and see until I get back to New Mexico.
When everything calms down the girls go off exploring at Petes with Rose-the-Wonderhound! Somehow talk him out of his camera! They take it, start recording and go off exploring! When we watched it later it was so neat to see all the things that got their little hearts attention! I was thinking thou, it is a good thing Mr Pete didnt have daughters, hes a sucker no doubt!!! We all sat out on his porch in the late afternoon and chatted away (I love chatting!!!!). Even though it is hott, the whole time a breeze is blowing. Bringing with it the smell of fresh grass, vegetable gardens and wild flowers! I had alot of fun relaxing on the porch with my Soda Pop (I know, I know...relapsed on the soda pop), cool breeze, children laffs and conversations about our pasts and our present. I can only think to describe it as...well, Home. It felt like it always was, and always would be. Time got away from us thou and it began to get dark. I hadnt realized how much time had gone by until Rosie came out of the house with Lovie in hand and going to the car!
With heavy hearts we said our good bys, all the while, wishing, hoping we could come back again next summer. I had so much fun visiting Pete and his loving wife. I will cherish those moments for the rest of my life, no doubt. All the while waiting for when we will be together again next summer. As we were driving away, Teesa says,"Mommy I love Uncle Pete and Auntie Liza! I can't wait to come back!" She warmed my heart to no end. She is right we are ALL family, and we cannot wait to get back!
And here I sit, the morning after the most loving care experince I have ever had in my life. Wishing I had said I love you. And told them how my heart feels so happy and full. Wishing, hoping, praying that I will get to come Home again
