Hi Everyone!!!  Happy Monday!!!!  How are you all doing???  Did you have a good weekend?  I hope you all had a good one.
I am very nervous about my upcoming procedure.  As some of you know, I was diagnosed with chronic pelvic pain a few years ago and just recently my specialist told me she wasn't sure that that was what I had.  I am now being seen at UCSF here in San Francisco.  I am scheduled to have some sort of a nerve block procedure on Thursday.  I am very nervous about it.  I am hopeful that it will help improve my pain.  I've been doing my meditation and deep breathing to try and get the best possible outcome that I can.  Please keep me in your prayers!!!  I could really use them.
I hope you are all doing well!!!  Take care.

sorry we have to "meet" like this but I want to send you calming hugs. Being an "old pro" at nerve blocks ( have had so many I can't count) I just want to tell you to continue to breath deep and it'll be over before you know. Heres' hoping it helps.
good luck to you my new friend

Stephaine I do hope that your blocks are a success and you get some badly needed relief. Of course you are scared and should be, we all were too when we had them done. Its that unknown thing that seems to get us. You will do fine. Let us know how things go.

I think I posted on your other thread, but I agree with straydog in that I think the anxiety about the procedure is far worse than the procedure itself. Fact it, I never had a problem with any of my nerve blocks, epidurals, etc. other than a little minor discomfort. Sometimes I think we forget about how much pain we endure on a regular basis, and that procedures like injections are short-term pain at most. We are a lot tougher than that! Keep that in mind - it will never compare to chronic pain that just doesn't go away.

I think the meditation and relaxation are great tools, but especially to use with your anxiety now. Try developing and using a positive affirmation. Even something as simple as "I will be fine", or telling yourself it's a "piece of cake" or something along those lines in your own words.

You WILL be fine!

I think most of your anxiety will be gone once they place the IV in, that's when I'm good...I so
hate those IV lines as because I'm so hard to find they don't always numb me and that just
makes it all the harder...but like I said once that is over your stress levels will go down and you'll do okay...
neve blocks may or may not help...if they can locate the correct nerve then you
should get some relief....I just wish they could last longer...
Good luck and well wishes and keep us posted...

I've thought about you and wondered how you are doing. I think of you when I'm at UCSF each week - in fact, I think I'll be there this Thursday (sorry, all the days are running into each other right now). E-mail me and let me know what time you'll be there. Even if we don't meet up - please know there's someone there that will be thinking about you and wishing you well.

I've had several nerve blocks; I think it's a good thing that you are giving this a try. I pray that it works for you, I really do! I also have anxiety issues - so I know how it is to feel anxious about something, especially if it's not something you've had before. I agree w/ Chartreux - once you get the IV in, I think you'll be able to relax some.

Yes, prayers coming your way, definitely. Not just for Thursday, but also that this will really help your pain and that you'll start feeling better, Stephanie.

Talk to you soon! --Tina
