Family , I finally got my surgery scheduled for August 23rd !!! I have to go on the 17th for blood tests , x-rays , the works . Then I'm on my way to being under the knife !!! I am so excited and happy !!! I want to thank everyone here who helped me get to this point , it seemed like it would never happen , I was shot down every time I tried before . I was depressed and suicidal and hopeless . My family here helped me get thru those horrible times by giving me love , support , caring all of the unconditional type , I can't begin to know how to thank you , I wouldn't have made it without the support I get here . I love you all dearly , and let me be an example , there is always hope !!! Hang on no matter how bad it seems , if you persist things can happen !!!! With great love and appreciation , your brother Mikel

I'm so happy you've finally received a surgery date and that everything leading up to the 23rd looks good. I will be praying for you, that nothing stops or interferes with this date and that time will pass quickly for you so the 23rd will be here in no time. I hope all your pre-testing on the 17th goes well.

How long will you be in hospital for? Do you have a plan in place for care when you get home? I'll bet you're excited to even be thinking of those sorts of things.

I will be praying for you and sending happy healing thoughts your way.

Go Mikel, I'm thrilled for you.
I'm doing hydrotherapy with some hip replacement people and they are all doing really well. They say the pain after the initial surgery is nothing compared to before surgery so cross my fingers this is the case for you!

Mikel, I'm not familiar with your case, but it seems you are having a hip replacement.  I've had bilateral hip replacements and 3 revisions.  I just wanted to tell you how important it is to have PT afterwards, preferably inpatient.  After my last revision in Aug. 08, I stayed in a rehab facility for 2 wks., getting intensive therapy 3 hours a day, 6 days a week.  It made a tremendous difference in how independent I could be at home upon discharge.  I also continued PT exercises every day for 4 mos. at home.  Now I'm walking 3/4 mile a day most days.

All the best of luck to you!
