And it's time for an end of summer BBQ. Common practice when people get together for a BBQ or party is everyone brings food to the event. Maybe you bring your family recipe potato salad or fried chicken. <ok, I'm drooling already and we haven't even gotten to the desserts yet> Or are you the type who brings baked pies and pastries? Well, today let's not tell what WE bring but what items do other people bring that you just can't wait to dig into? Does your neighbor make a decadent chocolate cake that already has your mouth watering? How about that special jello that Aunt Martha makes...you know, the one she always brings in the Tupperware with the snap-on lid that 'burps'? smhair And she always has those little mini marshmallows and 'baby' oranges that float on the top. (as long as she leaves out those nasty grated parsnips! <shudder> shocked rolleyes How about the guy from work who comes and always brings his famous 5 Alarm Hot Sauce that he makes himself? That's the one that the dog got into last summer and nearly ran over the dessert table trying to get to his water bowl!! shakehead smhair

OK, so when you go to a party or get-together what dish are you looking forward to having? Perusing the dessert table is always on my list but I'm going to head for the shrimp salad that my mom used to bring. Most often she would fix it at Thanksgiving and that was my favorite part of the meal...almost. It was nothing more than fresh, crisp lettuce, some green onions if you like, lots and lots of sweet, fresh shrimp and this magical dressing she put over it just before serving. That was always a mystery to me but when I found out what was in it we both laughed. It's nothing more than good mayonnaise, a bit of sugar and some fresh lemon juice. But how she made it always tasted better!

So what is the dish you look forward to at a pot luck?

Ah, what a delectable Koffee Klatch this is.

My favourite dish at a potluck is the broccoli salad that is mixed with pine nuts and other stuff in a creamy dressing...I don't know if there is an official name for it, but it's the first thing I head for when I see it. I also LOVE good fried chicken, so I would probably make that my second choice.

I am still mastering the art of taking a tiny bit of everything, instead of lots of 2 or 3 things. I'm not always successful, but I try!
