Hello, All

I have Degenerative Disc Disease and Degenerative Joint Disease. I lifted two gallons of milk with one arm and hand. That arm shook all day. I snapped my neck four times during my job at Wal-Mart. Most of the part lifting heavy items. Wal-Mart did not take it seriously. I kept showing them doctor's notes. The last snap was accompanied by Enormous Pain, headaches and Dizziness. Why? What could I have done?

Why did Wal-Mart not take this seriously?

Dear Macrip,

Welcome to the Chronic Pain Forum. I see you are from allergies and asthma. We are always so glad to see and meet new members here. I hope you find the Chronic Pain forum is a great place for friendship, support and knowledge.

I am terribly sorry you have hurt your neck / back so many times. Are you seeing a specialist or pain management doctor? If not, I would highly recommend you seeks a referral to one. They are able to treat long term chronic pain so much better than primary care doctors. Are you going to see a surgeon at some point in the future?

As far as your place of employment.. I do not know why they did not take caution. Advocating for ourselves is sometimes the hardest thing to do. At this point, you need to have open communication about what you can and cannot do physically. It is important that you not re-injure yourself even more.

I look forward to knowing you better as time goes by. Stay strong and hang in there.

*hugg*

I am not seeing anyone because I have no insurance. I am not working there anymore, but need to work and are curious if any place will take this serious. Also, I have not been feeling too good this summer because of the heat and humidity. My neck and back is staring to feel like Multiple Sclerosis. I hope it isn't that.

hello macrip3, the neck is serious business so the first thing you need to consider is taking care of you. first of all you need a accurate diagnosis and even with no insurance if you look through all the neurosurgeons [preferably] and orthopedic spine surgeons in the phone book you will find some that do pro-bono work and try to get a appointment. they maybe able to give you a tenative diagnosis just by looking at you without having to have more expensive radiological test [but some hospitals offer deals for low income people with no coverage. when you say "snap your neck" do you mean a pop like a chiropractor does? if so you could have tenosynivitis which is a inflammation of the synovial fluid capsule around your facet joints. if it is that anti-inflammators like IBuprofen or naproxen could help.. it does not sound symptomatic of MS. good luck looking for a spine doctor that does some charity work, hang in ther.

I will look into what you said. Good advice, Spinal Soldier. I'm afraid to go back to work cashiering because I will re-injure it again. Muscle relaxers I assume were helping me but cannot afford them now. I was working the register at Wal-Mart and heard an audible snap as I was working. The following Thursday, The pain and dizziness started. Worse than the initial injury.

I have had people tell me to apply for Disability. I carried a jug of milk across my street to a neighbor. My right arm was trembling and weak all day. Wednesday, I changed a Vanity Bulb in our bathroom. My head started hurting and I got very dizzy. I had to lay down.

What is this? Since the last snap of my neck, Extreme headaches, Dizziness, Neck pain, Weakness in the arms.

My head is starting to hurt now....Ugh...So I am heading for bed.

Hi Macrip and welcome to Healing Well's chronic pain forum. I am not understanding why you never filed a worker's compensation claim against WalMart when your accident occurred. Since you went to a dr and took notes from the dr to them, a claim should have been filed. WalMart should have filled out an accident report and sent it on to their ins. company. WalMart is a self insured with worker's comp insurance and they have been that way for many, many years. One thing an employee is required to do when injured at work is to immediately notify the company that they have been injured. Did Walmart ever offer to send you to the dr or did you go to one on your own? Also what did the notes from the say? WalMart has hundreds of work related claims filed against them daily. I just do not understand why you did not file a claim. You should have spoken with an atty back then to find out what you needed to do to get help. Depending on how much time has gone by would determine if it is too late to file a claim. I am so sorry that this has happened to you.

Can you file for Medicaid since you are still not working? At least with Medicaid you could get in to see a dr. and get some treatment. You really need to find out what is wrong. None of here are drs so we have no idea what could be wrong or going on with you I really feel bad for you that nothing has been done.

Anyway, I wanted to pop on here and welcome you aboard. Please keep posting and let us know how you are doing.

Medicaid was denied to me. Not old enough or something. I could not get the MRI done because I didn't have $700 for it. I wish something could be dona so I can find out what is wrong? My neck is hurting along with some dizziness so I am going to lay down again.

Ugh..This is not fun!!!

To my knowledge there is not an age limit for Medicaid, it is insurance for people that are not employed or have a very low income. Are you getting that mixed up with Medicare?

Mac since you have access to the internet seems to me you should be able to go into the local section and pull up a local Medicaid office. Also you may want to browse thru CP101 there is a lot of info there for people with no insurance and you may find something helpful there too. Medicaid will tell you why you are being denied.
