Koffee Katch is time to take our minds off pain and get a little Fun, anyone can join in...
remember to keep it clean or nice...

Every Friday in October will be Halloween themed...

So as a kid what was your favorite candies to get, and as a adult (if this applies) what
candy do you like to hand out for Halloween...

Example and my answer...
My favorite candy that I like most as a kid was sweet tarts and pixie sticks, the candies I give
out now as a adult are Kit Kat or Three Musketeers bars...

I absolutely LOVE Rockets....that tart flavour when you bite into one...mmmmmmmmm!

We generally aren't home on Hallowe'en (we go to an annual Fall Party at our church) so we don't give out candy. There aren't very many kids in our condo complex either, so there was very little traffic thru here last year.

My hubby buys a big bag of Rockets every Hallowe'en, then hides the bag and surprises me with rolls of them in places I wouldn't expect (in the bed, tucked into the stone of our fireplace, etc).

Hmmm. Great topic, Chartreux.

When I was a kid, I was allergic to chocolate. I loved any kind of candy that I got!

I have nut allergies, so I give out candy that doesn't have any nuts in it like Hershey's bars, Milky Way bars, Kit Kats, etc. I LOVE to buy lots of candy and give out handfuls. It's fun to me to see the kids smiling.

My favorite as a kid was snickers bars and pixie sticks!~ As an adult I hand out lollipops and fun size candy bars of all types, Hershey's, Butterfinger, Reese's cups, and Milky Ways mostly. For the kids in our neighborhood who are my sons' good friends, I make caramel apples rolled in peanuts.
Wonderful topic!

  Dear Chart,
I'm just going to answer the "now candy" and that is the "Wonka" mixes. Pixi stick, nerds..what was the one? Tray..Sweet tarts! Yes! Yummy!
  Dear Flower,
The people I make gift chocolate bags for with nut allergies take a whole week each year (I spend 3+ weeks total making chocolate gift bags and baskets), but it is a labor of love! Nestle (just the baking chocolate) morsels are all processed in plants that also process peanuts. As are the "wal-mart" and most other morsel makers. So, I have to go with Ghirardelli and for some reason for the dipping treats it has to have extra shortening. I also have to use all disposable " supplies". I know that everyone else is jealous of the allergy candies. The crème de menthe white chocolate truffles are one of my specialties for those with peanut allergies! I had one man try to bribe me into making them for his Christmas party. ..okay, sorry for veering off the subject there! It was hard to learn the " ins and outs " of peanut allergies. You never realize how many things are processed in plants that also process peanuts until you have to search for ways to make candies without peanuts of any kind coming into contact with the treats!
*warm hugg*

And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood

As a young kid we always went to the ritzy part of town for treats. They gave away awesome popcorn balls, candied cinnamon apples, many handed out cupcakes decorated for Halloween and tons of candy. Of course back then homemade treats were the run of the mill, we did not have to worry about weirdos and perverts messing with the candy or treats. If the people ran out of goodies they gave you change which was a real plus, lol. It was not uncommon to trick or treat till 10/11 at night either, our town made a big deal out of it.

I like making up goodie bags with Halloween pencils, tatoos, stickers, yo-yos, paddle balls, all sorts of fun stuff. I also put in the small candy bars and usually pixie sticks (yum yum) and lots of suckers and bubble gum. I really get a kick out making the bags up. I start buying my goodies real early from a party store. My neighborhood has grown up so I just don't the kids I use to. So, I take my loot and head to my son's where there is a lot of young kids. I hand out the bags while they take grand son trick or treating. The kids are most appreciative when they see they are getting 2 goodie bags full of loot. Now that is fun to me.

I, like Screaming Eagle, remember those Popcorn Balls! mmm mmm

A lady down the street would make a batch and only give them out to the kids on our street AND if we were wearing a costume. :-)

I've always love chocolate and I'm famous in my neighborhood for giving out the "Good Stuff". Every child in my town and the local town comes to my house.
I'm taking up a collection in the corner to buy candy this year. ;))

Kit-kats, Junior Mints, & Milky Ways, but the problem is, I like what I give out, so I tend to eat them.... For that reason, I can't buy Halloween Candy until RIGHT BEFORE Halloween.

When I was little, my parents used to let me keep my favorite 10 or so candies from the stash & then they'd pay me for the rest (don't remember how much, maybe $10) & take it away.
