Hello All,

I know I haven't been posting much lately....mostly due to these ever painful hands and several other medical things that have been going on lately.  I met with the surgeon today to discuss the EMG and what had to be done.  He read my report and then told me he had been doing hand surgery for a very long time and did not want to waste any time trying to fix my problem.  He also said that he had seen few, if any, cases of Carpal Tunnel that were worse than mine and that the muscles in the palm (just below the thumb) were being destroyed at a very fast pace.  He says the CT has to be fixed asap to stop the muscles from further deteriorating.  So, my surgery has been moved from the 29th, which was the first he had available in this general area, to Wednesday (on both hands) about an hour and a half away.  Thank Goodness I was able to get a sister to do the driving and my husband will pick up my daughter from school and meet the bus for my nephew when he gets out.  There is no way to stop the pain in the hands for now and I did explain that I am under pain contract, so I can't have additional pain meds.  He seemed really great and I hope the surgery goes well.  It's just scary to do both hands at once and then not know what to expect as an outcome.

My shoulder is finally starting to heal over from the deep skin cancer they removed on Monday and I'm really happy about that.  The leg is doing well too, but it wasn't ever really bad.  I'm still waiting on results.

I also have the Essure procedure and they are going back in to the bladder to remove any stitches that didn't disolve (they never disolve in my family) on November 8th.  I guess they are waiting that long to do the stitches because they will be doing some numbing to do the other procedure.  Then one more series of nerve ablations, a mamogrom, several Dr. apts and I hope to be done with doctors and procedures for this year.  I'm hoping next year will be better and won't require so many doctor visits or procedures.  Everything medical is almost doubling with our policy and it's become impossible to pay for everything.

I am praying for you all and am reading posts almost every day.  I just don't get the time to respond like I want to and my hands won't let me do too much at one time.

Bless you all!

Hi RM,

I haven't been posting much lately, either, as I've been really struggling with depression, anxiety, and personal issues, on top of getting very sick last weekend, but I did just want to drop in to wish you luck with your surgery on Wednesday & the rest of your procedures! It sounds like these next few months will be quite busy for you. Hopefully everything turns out well with all your procedures & that they are minimally painful. And hopefully the hand surgery lessens your daily pain!

My thoughts are with you, even if I am not posting as frequently. Best wishes for a successful surgery & speedy & painless recovery!

hugs,
Skeye

You really want to have both hands unusable at the same time?  I had 3 trigger fingers on one hand done this summer - about the amount of surgery you would have - and had enough trouble taking care of myself with everything wrapped up and painful on just one hand.  I don't think it's recommended to do both hands at once.  I'd wait a month between if it were me.

Thanks guys,

I understand the risks of both hands and yes I want them done at the same time. I am already in pain that I cannot describe. It may be worse for a few days and I know I have to "glove up" to take care of personal issues, but at least this way it is all over at one time and I won't be waiting to have another done. I already can't use my left hand to take care of personal needs because my back won't twist that direction. It's a catch 22.
