no, they have to have a stupid suboxone waiver on their DEA #. i am pretty sure it is so the federal gov. can monitor who may be detoxing. but it is great for pain and i think for purposes of the managment of pain any doctor should be able to right a Rx for it if at the same time they can Rx dilaudid. it may be the smoothest opiate med for pain ther is.

I'm using the Generic Subutex for pain, and any doctor can prescribe Subutex/Suboxone off-label for pain, but the DEA frowns BIG time on it, so it scares some doctors out of prescribing it, but more and more pain specialists are prescribing it for chronic pain.

ALSO, in a few months, the Buprenorphine patch(the main ingredient in subutex/Suboxone) is coming out in a patch that lasts a week, and it's approved just for moderate/severe chronic pain.

your correct Kitty. from the british testing and patient response the buprenorphine patch works very well and they say you can use subutex/suboxone sublingual for breaktrough pain. there is a method for some reason kept secret. transdermal fentanyl can be used in combination with suboxone for great pain control if the suboxone is started 1-2 days in advance. not many doctors at all know this.
