Sorry everyone, I know this is off-topic but it's very important so I hope you don't mind. My family has to be out of our home in the morning by 9am, and we have found nowhere to take our cats temporarily, until we can find a place to live. We live in Palm Harbor, FL. I know this is a WAY long-shot, but I have tried everything else and nothing has panned out, so I figured this couldn't hurt! I just need someone with a room, a garage, a shed, any kind of space for 1 or more cats. We have 1 male and 3 females. They are a part of our family and the thought of giving them to the humane society or the county is more than I can handle right now. And seeing the pain in my kids' faces is tearing me up. We've already lost our home, I don't know how I could face losing my cats. We each have a 'favorite' one that is attached to each of us - it's funny how it worked out that way. I apologize if this post is breaking any HW rule, but those of you who have pets know how I am feeling right now, and I'm sure you would do the same thing if you were in my position. So, please forgive me for the major downer post (well THERE'S some good grammar!). In the end, this isn't really OT because all of this stress has my pain levels rising and relief not possible. I realize only a few members live anywhere close to me, but what the heck had to try! If nothing else, please say a prayer or shoot me some positive vibes, ok? :-) Thank you. Have a peaceful day.

Hello Splashdancer,
I wish I had a way to help.  I'm in GA, but I have a large dog and my husband is allergic to cats, so we're out of the pictures with the kitties.  I used to have cats and loved them so.....but that was before my hubby and my dog.
Anyway, I did want to send the positive vibes out to you as soon as possible and to wish the best of luck in you efforts.
I don't think that this is off topic either.....because CP often lends us to lean even closser on our pets when our families/friends seem unable to deal with our pain.  There a many HW members who get their physical contact and hearfelt support from a beloved pet.  Surely someone will be able to help you.
All my best, my friend.

Splash I am so sorry to hear everything that is happening to you and your family. Your post is fine, I wish I could help you but I am in Texas with two dogs. As far as I know this is not against any rules either. I do hope there is someone here that can come to your rescue with the kitties. Oh, this just breaks my heart, the entire story. I am assuming that you and your family have another place to live right? Please keep u posted on this.

Lots of prayers & hugs coming your way.

Do you think the ASPCA could offer to board them until you get a place? You could work out a deal with them.

Wish I could help but I've got three who don't get along with others and sometimes themselves.

  Dear Splash,

I am so sorry to hear of everything that has happened in your life. I do hope you can find a place to stay for you and the children. Things are so hard for you right now.

If you cannot find them a home and they are house broken, etc. Perhaps you can get them into a "animal rescue" house? They would be very well taken care of and that way you know that they will be safe and loved. The rescues are so much different from animal shelters.

I will email you a comprehensive list of location and contact information of over 150 rescues in Florida.

I am so sorry. My animals mean everything to me, so I can only imagine the pain and heartbreak that you and your family must be experiencing. If I didn't live at the other end of the country, I'd gladly take them in for you. Have you tried any local vets or kennels? A lot of vets don't board (especially if it is a small clinic), but if you explain your situation, they just might. I know the clinic that I work in would do such a thing for one of our clients, despite having very limited kennel space.

I do hope that you have already found someone to temporarily take your kitties.

You might also try any local cat rescue groups.

You should contact your area animal shelters and ASPCA to see if there are any foster homes willing to take care of your cats for a while.
