Good Morning Chronic Pain Family!

It is a beautiful Monday morning! December comes with waaay too many tasks and not enough time to do them all. Despite our packed schedules and sore bodies it is Monday. There are tasks to complete, jobs to do and appointments that need to be kept.

Often times we are so busy supporting others that we forget to update about ourselves. So, before we get too wrapped up in starting out the week... Please, stop by and let us know how you are doing. Give us an update. We want to know how you are doing.

What are your major plans for the week?
How are you feeling? What has your pain scale been over the weekend?

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood

I have a lot of appointments this week. Just found out I am pregnant! about 6 weeks along. So just had labs drawn today to check my levels and blood type etc. Then I have to go see pm doc tomorrow to develop a plan to get me off these pain meds. they said it will take about 4 weeks. I am hoping that I will have no more withdrawls as I did when I tried to quit fent cold turkey, (BAD idea) then I am hoping to just pop a tylenol now and then. my pain scale was through the roof this weekend, because i ripped off my patch and suffered through 3 days off withdrawls. things are better now since pm doc said to put the patch on.

how are you dani?

My pain problems are starting to smooth out. There will be some adjustments down the road, but at least I'm feeling better now, and the roller coaster is a flater ride now. Thank you to everyone who supported me through this rough time. I will be back to supporting again, right where I like to be! wink

       Again, THANK YOU! Awesome Family!

Our plans for the week, my kids have occupational therapy on Friday. It took months for us to get appointments and they finally have them every week. It might not sound like a big deal, but we have all been waiting for this, my kids love OT. They both have sensory integration dysfunction and love all the swings, obstacle courses, etc... So my husband and I will be going with so my husband can get ideas on the swings they use so he can build them in the kids playroom at our house.

My pain is alright today, pretty good actually, about a 5. Which I haven't been able to say that in a long time. I cleaned and organized this weekend and that made my pain today feel a bit worse, hence the 5, but over the weekend I was around a 3/4. I haven't gotten this low on the pain scale in a VERY long time, years actually. It is such a great time in my life and I am so grateful for everything.

We've got a cold snap going on so my joints are trying to flare up. I go for the MRI on my shoulder on Wednesday. Maybe they can figure out why it sounds like popcorn when I move it. My PF in my foot is cramping right now. I've got to get up and go get some supper, now. Ow!

I'm having a med-high pain day today. I felt really good for most of the weekend, caught up on a lot of my chores that I had neglected. Naturally I'm hurting a bit more because I did a little too much. But that's a good kind of pain because I got something done! smilewinkgrin

I have to see both my neurologist and rheumy tomorrow. That means a 3 1/2 hour drive one way, and I still don't have my license back after my former PCP ratted me out to the DMV for having vertigo and double vision (though I'm working on getting it back!) so the whole family has to go, including two kids ages 4 and 5. Oh well! We'll try to make a nice family outing out of the trip.

I apologize for being so scarce the last couple of weeks, but things have been crazy & I've been exhausted. I flew out to Iowa last weekend to interview at the ISU vet school. The interview went well, but I hated the school, and hated Iowa (although the people were really nice). I got back at 2 am on Monday, and of course had to be at work at 7:30 am, so I'm still trying to recover from that.

On Thursday, I fly out to Michigan to check out the MSU vet school (which I've already been accepted to). I'm looking forward to it. I think I'm really going to like the school. It has an excellent reputation & I could easily see myself going there if I don't get into one of my top choices (Cornell and UPenn).

Fortunately, flying with my stimulator turned out to be no big deal. I was worried that I'd set off the metal detector alarms & security would give me a hard time, but nothing happened. I told the security people about my implant ahead of time (and showed them my implant card), but I did not set off either of the metal detectors that I went through. I don't know what will happen if I have to go through one of those fandangled new x-ray machines though...

Other than that, nothing much is new. My pain levels have been manageable with the stimulator & I'm almost off the dilaudid (except for break-though use). My depression has gotten a little better now that I have been diagnosed bipolar II & am on several meds for that. I'm still tapering up the meds, so hopefully it will improve even more over time.

I'm praying for a little snow so that we have a white Christmas (it's been unseasonably warm here).

Hope everyone is well. Sorry again for not being here for you all the last few weeks. Hopefully once things calm down I'll have more time & more energy, and will post more.

hugs,
Skeye

Things are going pretty good. The T#3 is working relatively well, and I still have the tapentadol for breathrough pain. My pain levels did spike a little a few times this past week but overall I am doing fairly well pain wise.
MRI revealed disc bulge and test injections revealed RA. Radio Freq procedures have decreased the severity of pain by about 1/3rd. Was on Nucynta (tapentadol 50mgs) for several months, but due to a decrease in pain, I now used Tylenol #3 with Codeine and .5 mg Klonopin. Go ahead and laugh but the Codeine works well ;)

   Congratulations Melissa  smilewinkgrin

Gosh Chart I am unsure how you would go about telling your doctor that you can not see him anymore. I guess tell him flat out about the insurance change. Ask if he could please compile a report and medical file package with cover letter. That you will pick it up later in the week? Hopefully, he will help you with the transition. A lot to deal with just before the holidays.

Grain, SE and South, gosh it sure is good that you all have medium pain. Thank goodness, all three of you have had a hard time with pain the last few weeks (months more like). With a little luck it will hold steady through the holidays    :-)

Joann I sure hope your appointment went well today. Be sure to give us an update on your appointments this week when you get a chance.

Joy, goodness, you must be down right exhausted to your very core by now. I too hope the MRI shows what is going on with your shoulder. You have had so much going on and so much extra pain on top of everything you already deal with on a daily basis. I sure hope they can get the MRI results back quickly.

Skeye, I hope you like the other Vet School better. Flying this time of the year is hecktic to say the least! I must admitt I had to re-read your post twice. Did I read that right? Are your pain med PRN now?? If so, oh my gosh darned goodness what a blessing! How awesome is that?!?!

Paula. Girrrrly. You know you can't be doing that kind of cleaning! I can only imagine how sore you are. Well... okay, so next time you get a itch to clean you can come by my house. I will even make you enchillidas and chocolate! My husbands bathroom is... *shiver*  smilewinkgrin    Goodness, I sure am sorry you have to find a new doctor. Literally there is 10 of our loving members who need to find a new doctors. I would be scared to death. Still am. My insurance changes next month and I am so worried they will come back and say "Nope! No deal! You need a new doctor!". At the beginning of this year when all of my doctors changed it was easy.. sorta, I was scared. But all my records documents, all of it even cover letters and meetings were all done long before I met the new ones. I think I would be a nervous wreck if I were in your shoes. You will have to give us a update and let us know how it goes.

      ...my turn I guess....
Well, I got the first batch of gift bags out today. 15 Medium bags. I will get the second batch out on friday (16 Extra large and medium) along with the candy platters for the girls Christmas parties.  Then Monday I will mail off green chili, chocolate bags and gifts. Only 9 though. Then it really is complete! I am excited to hear what everyone has to say about the candies this year. I had wanted to do buckeye candy.. but I just couldnt squeeze them in. I did manage to squeeze in cream cheese truffles and I am anxious to hear the reviews :-)   I have taken a lot of pictures today and I will take more on friday and monday morning. When I went to put todays pictures on my computer... only my "background" showed up. No Icons for anything  smhair    So, hopefully my husband can fix my computer when he comes home for lunch tonight.

Pain wise, suprisingly is still rather high a majority of the week. Strange I am doing much less... still it is a tug of war. I will bring it up with my spine specialist when I see her in a few weeks. I get fresh images then to, so we can really see what the heck is going on and how much I have progressed over fall and winter. I have a... feeling. Well, I know I have pogressed quite a bit. As much as I would like to ignore it, physically the signs are obvious. They were VERY evident when I went clothes shopping. !!Not gonna worry about it right now. I will put it out of my mind. No use worrying about it.

Speaking of doctors, normally I would have to do a few "end of the year" appointments this month but one of my husbands family members ran into a ruff patch. So, I had to reschedual them all. There is going to be 2 very hecktic weeks in january and febuary. I would have kept the appointments if it was possible, but 2800 was a bit cut from our finances on such short notice. It is a good thing I plan ahead for Christmas.  :-) With a little luck and a lot of prayer our loved family members can realx a little. Its not a loan, so there isnt a worry about anything needing to be paid back. I just hope they dont flip when they see the big deposit in their account. Lord knows they helped my husband and I that first year we were married more times than I can count!

Well... I suppose I should end this here. I am terribly sorry for all the spelling and grammar errors. My daughters computer doesnt have all the cool programs on it that mine does. No spelling checker. On a positive note, I must say I am getting used to the disney fairies theme song.. it is rather tranquil  blush

*warm hugg*

don't know if it is too late to add my mess in. yesterday i went to the supermarket and was so bad with pain i asked for help to get out. a man who i have never seen before drove my car up front of the store. a kid who does carts took care of the groceries. my friend helped me get one bag up and my home health aide who comes on friday took care of the rest.

i am so exhausted and frightened. i have been telling anyone who would listen there is something wrong with my ankle. have gotten no help from medical people except my podiatrist. unfortunately she is not versed in ankles.

so long

Oh, Joan, I know the aggrevation of painful feet. Has anyone done a xray or MRI on your foot? I'd holler for one if no one will give you one.

My knee is giving me a fit today. Just a dull ache deep inside. We've got a cold, icy rain going on today and it keeps getting into my bones.
