My friend, of thirty some years, broke her neck and back in two different accidents.  She has been on pain medicine for several years - methadone - I don't know her dosage.  Now her physical won't take her Care Source any longer - don't get me started on government health care and their payment of doctors.
            Anyway....
She called last night in tears.  She is a grandmother, alone, raising a grandchild, now eight, with no family.

Does anyone know of a pain clinic in Columbus, Ohio, which takes Care Source, and will provide methadone.

Many years ago she was on other medicines like oxycontin, percocet and the like, but they all made her slur her words and act stupid.  She doesn't want to go back to that.
I will pass on any information to her.  She hasn't a computer.  She doesn't think her driving service will take her any farther than Columbus and she isn't sure she could ride for a longer period anyway.

try going on-line for her and looking up specialist under "Care Source" in your area or around
the Columbus Ohio area...then call up the doctors to see if they still take care source then
pass that info on to your friend...
Only thing I could think of, healing hugz and many blessings to you for trying to help out a friend...

Thank you, I will try your suggestion.

What really angers me, is I told her I would pay for her office visit, but the doctor's office will not allow that BECAUSE she has insurance. If her insurance, Care Source (aka the government) would pay the doctors in a timely manner and pay their fees, she wouldn't need to go elsewhere.

Yet the insurance not allowing me to pay for the office call is beyond my comprehension. To me this is intolerable.

A slave to Care Source, at their mercy. The great pity is, this government adgency has no mercy, only rules and laws. I will fight government health care because of her.

Unfortunately (and not to get political by any means) Government health care/health insurance/facilities, in my biased opinion tinged by being a former VA patient and an active duty tri-care receiving soldier(I'm now under excellent civilian health care), ALMOST EVERY experience with government health care was substandard. Unless its through a GS federal job (as those plans are the exception to the rule), government health care should be avoided at all costs. If its free, it usually sucks, and thats just the bottom line.

Is it possible to take her to an urgent care center and show her medical records? Some of them function as both urgent care AND primary care and if you can find one like that where you live, that might be an option. Where I live, we have an urgent care/primary care center that will prescribe medication for up to 60 days to include pain meds.
MRI revealed disc bulge and test injections revealed RA. Radio Freq procedures have decreased the severity of pain by about 1/3rd. Was on Nucynta (tapentadol 50mgs) for several months, but due to a decrease in pain, I now used Tylenol #3 with Codeine and .5 mg Klonopin. Go ahead and laugh but the Codeine works well ;)

This is a perfect example of what a OBAMA PUBLIC OPTION medical plan would do to us who suffer daily.

I'm not sure about methodone and urgent care, as the urgent care here is afilitated with the one hopsital we have. I've only gone once with her to the hospital emergency room, when she had muscle spasms. It was beyond description. She was treated like a witch during inquisition. She has never smoked marijuana or taken illegal drugs in her life, and yet, if her treatment had been worse, I don't see how. I've been to the same hospital with pneumonia and was treated fine. She was talked down to, belittled, and basically told she was searching for drugs. She had medicine at home, if that is what it boiled down to. It wasn't medicine she wanted; she wanted her muscles to stop the spasms. I was flabergasted.

She has two months to find a new doctor. She's just trying to take care if finding a new doctor now, with plenty of time on her side.
