I know many of you have pain and use opiates, so what is the best way you have found to avoid constipation on opiates?

I hope this will help you find what your looking for. I can never seem to make it a link hot, and it looks like Dani will have to retrain me on it again!

If you of one of you mods could help to make this link hot, I would appreciate it.

There you go. That should make it a clickable link.

Best way to avoid constipation is to make sure you get plenty of fiber and plenty of water in your diet. The added fiber may also help your meds work better as fiber also aids in digestion and absorbtion of what we take in.

Lots of water or tea, foods high in fiber (fruit especially), and in a pinch I have some of those calcium chews with fiber added; which is good given I'm lactose intolerant.

Also if you have the ability keep active -- I found even just walking for 30min a day helped my system keep moving. Good luck!
Originally injured 10/26/2007 - Initial diagnosis; Tendonitis
Spent next year seeing specialist after specialist; Bone, Muscle, Hand, Chriopractor, Physical Therapist...
Went through a battery of tests, multiple MRI's

Permanently disabled and on Percoset for pain.
Hoping 2011 will see my spinal cord stimulator unit finally implanted.
