Wednesday Koffee Klatch
If you are new to this forum family then you may be wondering what kind of goofy question is that on a health care forum. idea   We all suffer with medical conditions and with most of us there is pain involved...sometimes a lot of pain. Or maybe you are the loved one of one of these persons. This forum is all about how we help and support each other, how we gain back more quality to our lives, and how we can learn and share what we gain along the way and hopefully make not only our lives better but the lives of others who come to join us.

But we need to also remember that there is the other side of life...the side that isn't concentrated on illness and pain. That's why we started the daily Koffee Klatch. This is a time to laugh, reminisce, chit-chat about the silly things in our lives...all fun things and no pain. In fact the 'P' word is not allowed...  turn    So each day we share our thoughts or experiences on a different topic. Often it includes food, sometimes we talk about our past, and other times we just get goofy! Laughter is our goal. So, please join us whether this is your very first day on Healing Well or you're a seasoned veteran.
Daily Question:
Do you drink alcoholic beverages?

Nope. Not at all. I think that most members don't drink because of their medications. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have always thought that.

I don't drink either. Not because of pain meds. It makes my joints feel "sick" like I have the flu   smhair

No! However, I may drink a small glass of wine with my meal, but only once in a Blue Moon.
Did I drink a beer on my Florida trip? Yep! .....but Pete and Red made me do it! smilewinkgrin smilewinkgrin smilewinkgrin tongue smilewinkgrin smilewinkgrin smilewinkgrin
I guess it is a guy thing, out on a boat in the middle of the Gulf, no water for miles, an empty hook for hours on end....had to do something to life my spirits! wink
I'm just not a drinker, and don't even like the taste of it. Now a fufu drink is a little different, but I still rarely will drink one.

I guess I am the black sheep! LOL! I usually am! I do drink...not to get drunk...but it is regularly! I usually have a couple drinks at night! By that time I am hurting bad and usually stressed and a couple drinks takes the edge off! I know I shouldn't with my meds and with the high counts on my liver function tests....but I do....at least until my follow-up with the rheumy on the 21st! I just know he is going to tell me to stop....and that is okay! I do not NEED it, but I do feel like it helps me!

Prior to getting really sick from the crohns disease and having emergency surgery in 2002, I was a a regular Miller Lite drinker. I loved a good cold Miller Lite especially if it was summer and I was outside working in the yard or hanging out in the pool. I never cared much for hard alcohol but I do make a mean frozen margarita and it is my secret recipe too, lol. We have no idea what happened after the surgery, but some months later I went to an open house at an atty's office and of course a friend of mine handed me a Miller Lite. It was the first time I had drank anything since having surgery and it made me deathly ill. I drank about a half a can of it and went flying to the bathroom to throw up. Usually when something makes me throw up I never eat or drink it again, I totally avoid it.

This summer my neighbor and I was outside and he had a beer in hand called Fat Tire I think and I took a sip of it, never had that kind before. It did not sit well with me at, lol. So, guess now I am t-totaler, lol. I don't miss it and have thrown parties since and been to parties with lots of alcohol around but it just doesn't matter to me one way or the other.

NO! It's a killer on my stomach. I sure do miss it though, mainly I miss being "normal."

No way....not now. I used to enjoy an adult beverage or two, but not with my meds...ever.

At the ER the other night, they kept asking if I drink, smoke, do street drugs and things like that. I'm saying nope, nope, nope and the male nurse decides to tell me "well hell girl, that's what your problem is....go out and have a drink and a smoke and you'll be fine. You need to loosten up". I'm sure he felt he was being too funny for words, but I was really just trying not to retch in his general direction at the time. The thought of alcohol and tobacco didn't sit well at at moment. lol :)
