Hi everyone. I am sorry it's been so long since I posted. I just started reading posts yesterday and thought I would post today.

I'm having a heck of a time with the pain. I called to get my pcp to send me more scripts for my pain meds because I had the last patch on and I wanted to get them filled so I would have one to put on when that one ran out. Needless to say, she wouldn't send me any scripts until I did blood work with a urine test for testing if I was taking my meds correctly. I can't remember what it's called. I wish she would have gotten me to do it before I was about to run out. I ran out and have been in horrendous pain since last Thursday. I did the blood work this past Monday and I'm callin' later today to see if she has the results and if she has went over them yet and hopefully get her to send me my scripts because I have no way of picking them up, so they send them to me. I sure hope I can get them in the next day or day. It's been really hard. I've been really shaky and had a bit of a headache one day. I was so scared when she said she would not give them to me until I did blood work because I was scared of the withdrawls from quitting cold turkey. I don't think I've done really bad with those symptoms but I've really had bad pain in my back the most, and also my knees and hips chime in pretty often too. I just don't know what to do. There's no way I was going to the er because of the horror stories I've read on here.

I hope everyone is having as pain free a night as they can have and are getting a good night sleep. Take care everyone.

God bless
Loretta

ps. It feels good to be back.

Hi Loretta! Welcome back! I was wondering where you had gone to. Winter is always hard on us CPers and I would imagine its no better for you then it is for me. The bloodwork your doctor is doing is probably what the docs do to me each year. It's bloodwork that tests your levels of medications in your system. Its called a levels panel or something like that. They do it to me every year along with a UA to make sure I am obaying my contract. Of course, sometimes we feel that they are picking on us, but after 10 years of UAs and bloodwork I have gotten used to it.

Anyway, just wanted to welcome you back to HW and say hi.

Hey Loretta! Long time no hear. Glad you came back to talk to us. That really stinks that you are without your meds right now. You would think that they would have told you earlier that you needed to come in for the blood test. I wonder if you explained to her that you are out now if she would call in a couple of patches to get you through until they get the results back?

I hope they do something for you soon. Keep us posted, and once again it's great to hear from you. Take care.

Hi and welcome back!!!!

I hope your Dr will have all the right answers and a quick send out for the new scripts. It's so difficult waiting on someone else to do something when all you can think of is how badly you hurt right now. With any luck they will have already sent them out and you can fill them soon. If nothing else, perhaps they could call in a less potent med for at least some coverage until your scripts arrive. I know Ultracet/Tramadol can be called in and so can some of the others. As we are all aware, the "biggies" are a problem, but I'm sure anything right now would be a welcome relief.

Best of luck on this and I hope you are back to feeling better soon! We have missed you here!

Thank you for your support you three. I appreciate it. It helps to know I'm not alone. I got the results of the blood tests and everything came out normal. Now I'm waiting for my doctor to send the scripts. Hopefully I'll get them in the mail later and I can get Jerome to take them in and get them filled. I'm so exhausted and aggravated. I'll be glad when this is over and my pain is much better controlled. I have to stay up until I can barely hold my eyes open before I go to bed or I'll toss and turn and I hate doin' that so I just stay up.

I hope you're all having a low pain night and will have later today too. Take care.

love
Loretta

Dear Loretta,

Good morning  :-)   It is good to hear from you again. It has been a very long time since I have seen you post. I have often wondered how you were doing and what was happening in your life.

I am so sorry about the pain refill nightmare. That has got to be aggravating. I hope they can send your prescription over night. It would make things much easier for you. I can well imagine you are fed up with all the pain.

I hope the rest of your weekend goes better. Stay strong and hang in there!

9yrsCP! Welcome back! Glad to see you post!

My Dr just pee tested me about three weeks ago, out of the clear blue air. No problems there!

I had never had that done before, and it was a little odd, but I guess it is needed every once in a while.

I have tried to save up a few meds, just in case, I ran into the same problem of a delay. Its not easy to do, especially if your on too low of a dose to start with. I'm close, but still think I lack 20 to 30mg of the correct dosage. My scritp was due right in the middle of our Florida trip, and it was like pulling teeth trying to get an advance, and my Dr was out of the office. Luckly he came back the day before we were to leave.

He assured me I would never have to worry about not getting my meds if he was out of the office. Well he was wrong, so I will bring this back up to him the next time I see him. I'm under contract with him, and the nurse would not budge on it when she saw the note on my charts. I take two different pain med's and the refills are due two weeks apart. So in a pinch it will get me by, but its not my perfered way to go about it.

9;

I am having the same problem, only it is my pharmacy that is doing the deed! They know, and have a list of each of my medications, but does that stop them from screwing with my times.....hell no!!! This is like the fourth time they haven't had my Kadian in when I needed a refill. It's not like I have a real choice when it comes to pharmacy's either. We have three here in Pratt, KS but one doesn't fill or get in Kadian and refuses to do so; the other two are the local store, which in my opinion is way too clogged with patients to worry about lil ole me! The third option is Walmart....and well I have had too many problems getting scripts filled with them to bother with that route.

I only use them if I absolutely have no other choice. Anyway, I called the pharmacy on sat to see if they had enough to refill me. They had 40 Kadian and I need 60. The pharmacist said that they wouldn't get another script in until next Friday! That would put me out of Kadian on Tuesday (have a three day back up) and I would be going through withdrawls easily by Tue. I know what happens when I even forget to take my med, I feel fluish within 4 hours and by ten hours I am in full blown pain with dreadful flu like symptoms.

Okay so, the pharmacist told me that he would check to see if they already ordered some......and sure enough my full script will (god am I praying) tomorrow on Tue. I have enough to get me by for one more day. I told them that I HAVE to have my script by tomorrow or I will be in fullwithdrawls and that if I do have to do that I will be on their butts hard!

So ya I do know what you are going through. One time I went 3 days without and it was not only scary for hubby to watch but terrifying for me! I thought and felt like I was going to die!

I hope for a quick resolution for both our problems.
