Morning Stumped, sorry you are feeling so bad. If you will look at the top of this page on the right you will see the word search. If you will click it and type in SCS Unit a bunch of very good useful information will be available for you to read and it is current info. There has been a lot of talk here at the forum about the SCS Units and you know its like anything else we try with CP, it can be a hit or a miss. Some members have loved their units at first then hated them, its really a mixed bag. One thing I will point out to you, is the wires or the leads whichever you want to call them, if at some point you have the unit put in, once those leads are implanted they cannot be removed because of the scar tissue and such. So, they are permanent. You are right the unit does not take the pain away it creates a different sensation that is suppose to over ride the pain somewhat.

I don't have an SCS Unit, I have an intrathecal pain pump implanted and love it. It has given me some quality life back that I did not have before. One thing none of us ever wanted was to be on medication, however, with that being said if that is the only way to get some relief then we have little choices left don't we. I still have pain with my pump but I can deal with that pain most of the time too, if not, then I can take something for it. I will never be pain free unless I am turned into a zombie with medication and that is not going to happen. Acceptance of what all comes with CP is really big issue for all of us to learn to live with and learn how to deal with. The sooner we can come to terms with this demon called pain the better off we all are. Its a hard road to travel but it can be done with time and patience.

I can only say that it should be your choice on what avenue you wish to take treatment wise. Not your husbands or anyone elses, your decision only. Yes, your pain does affect him too, but still it should be you making the decision on it not him. Take care and keep us posted on how you are coming along.
