Sunday Koffee Klatch

If you are new to this forum family then you may be wondering what kind of goofy question is that on a health care forum. idea   We all suffer with medical conditions and with most of us there is pain involved...sometimes a lot of pain. Or maybe you are the loved one of one of these persons. This forum is all about how we help and support each other, how we gain back more quality to our lives, and how we can learn and share what we gain along the way and hopefully make not only our lives better but the lives of others who come to join us.

But we need to also remember that there is the other side of life...the side that isn't concentrated on illness and pain. That's why we started the daily Koffee Klatch. This is a time to laugh, reminisce, chit-chat about the silly things in our lives...all fun things and no pain. In fact the 'P' word is not allowed...  turn    So each day we share our thoughts or experiences on a different topic. Often it includes food, sometimes we talk about our past, and other times we just get goofy! Laughter is our goal. So, please join us whether this is your very first day on Healing Well or you're a seasoned veteran.

Daily Question:
What are your plans for today?

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood

I have been working the weekends at work, so not much going on here! My wife and I did attend a Romance dinner and dance put on by one of the churches here in town last night. It was 11:30pm before we got home, and I did not sleep much last night, so I'm struggling today. shakehead

It's 11am and still not out of bed... the wife brought me coffee and croissants in bed this morning :)

So, get out of bed.

Then, do some editing on my behemoth paper.

Probably also finish the book I'm reading -- Poul Anderson's "There will be time".
C4-T4 Scoliosis (disk degeneration, stenosis, narrowed neuroforamen, bone spurs)
RT hip and SI joint damage from car accident
Current meds: Ultram ER 300mg daily, breakthrough - hydrocodone 10-15mg, or oxycodone 5-7.5mg. .5mg ativan as needed for sleep.

I took my daughter to her dance class this morning. My husband usually does this so I can have a change to rest, but I wanted to get in a chance to watch her dance again before my upcoming surgery. This afternoon will probably be filled with house cleaning and organizing, plus catching up on paperwork -- mostly financial -- all in an attempt to catch up before surgery. Tomorrow will be used for fun outings with my daughter -- probably either the Children's Museum or the Science Museum, or something similar. I'll certainly pay at work on Tuesday for trying to do so much this weekend, but it's worth it. Plus, Tuesday may be my final day of work before my surgery (I'm using a bunch of vacation time so I can have a break between finishing work and going into surgery). But, back to today. If I can fit it in, I would love to design some more pieces of jewelry this weekend.
Scoliosis fusion w/rods (92); herniated disc (96); partial removal of rods (97); microdiscectomy (97); pain worsened (08) when my kid was 15mo old; tried many non-surgical treatments with limited benefit; surgery scheduled for 3/1/11

I woke up early today because my boyfriend came home from work, and he was locked out of the house because the storm door was locked! I'm the only one that heard him pounding, so I came downstairs and let him in. I'm sorta glad I woke up then, though, because we talked about his work day and stuff and it kind of lifted my mood a bit.

My nephew is coming home very soon after being in Afghanistan for what seems like forever! His birthday is on March 5th (he's going to be 21!) so I'm trying to think of what we can all do to have fun. We're also going to meet his girlfriend, so hopefully everything goes alright. lol

I hope everyone else has an ok day.

Also, damgalnuna, I'm glad you're going to have a nice outing with your daughter. Sometimes it's worth it to have fun while you can and enjoy your family even if you'll pay for it later! :P
