Does anyone know how she is doing?

I think she was suppose to have surgery on her knee in Jan. (but I could be wrong)

She hasn't been on here for a while now.

PA Lady, I hope you are doing OK.

I haven't spoken to her lately. I need to send her another email. I haven't been doing a good job keeping up with anyone lately. I too hope she is alright. I know that winter is hard for her.

Oh my goodness! What a kind and timely surprise!

Thank you, tmj, for starting this, and to all who replied. I stopped in tonight because I am scheduled for knee surgery tomorrow (Thursday - technically today!). It's same day surgery and I'm a little nervous because we have a bad snow storm (yet another) predicted for Thursday night into Friday, which may make it tough for the Community nurse to get here. It's also scary to come home and be alone that first night. My cousin will be available by phone, but if the weather's bad she may have difficulty getting here. I'll take any good thoughts you want to send my way, and please hope the storm somehow passes us by. I'm already hurting from shoveling this week, and cleaning the house trying to get ready. I doubt I'll be online tomorrow, but I will give an update - it just may take a few days until I'm up and about.

Thank you all again!

Hi PA!!!!!!

I am so glad that you are okay. I was wondering where you had went to. Good luck on your surgery tomorrow. I wish I lived closer, I would come take care of ya! Where is it snowing? If its MN my youngest lives there and he says that they have been getting dumped on for quite awhile now.

Anyway, I am glad that you are here and you have always been like a big sister to me. Always quick to address my posts, you have a great insight into CP and your humor is delightful! So as of this moment I am adopting you as my internet sister!

Hugs

Hello dear friends,
Thank you all so much! I don't have it in me to reply to each of you but will try to soon. Just know each of your posts touched my heart!!!

I'm having a rough time. My surgeon ran late so I was the last one for the day and of course felt like everyone was moving me out so they could go home. A couple of hours after being home (thankfully, my cousin was here) I went to change to get into bed and noticed my entire dressing was all blood - even soaked through the ace bandage. So numerous phone calls to doctors, visit from angel Community Nurses we have here, and a final trip to the E.R. which I left at 3:30am just as the snow storm was starting. My cousin was such a trooper. She's the one who just went through breast cancer treatment. After feeling like Dr. House's team came in to look at my swollen, bleeding knee, discussions of another surgery, and even a picture taken on an iphone and sent to the ortho. on call, I was finally sent home with a new, huge rap over most of my leg. Pain overnight was horrible. My surgeon gave me NOTHING for pain - said he didn't want to increase what I was already taking. Thank goodness for my great PM, as I was pretty comfortable taking a little extra BT meds he prescribed prn. I have a phone call into him today to see what my max can be for the next couple of days. It is a little better today and the nurse came again and changed the dresssing and the bleeding seems to maybe be stopping but oh, the swelling and bruising and pain! And of course my back is killing me because I can't turn to get comfortable - have to keep leg elevated. Nurse is coming back this weekend and they are on call 24/7 so I can call if I notice more bleeding anytime.

Guess that's about it for now. Back to bed! And Lucy I saw the title of your post and send you huge wishes for healing, even though I didn't read any threads (sorry, everyone). And Scarred, love the sister thing!

Thanks with deep gratitude to you all!

Hello my dear Lady,
How is your knee now? Are you taking any physical therapy? Is it feeling better now that some weeks have passed? I've had several knee surgeries and thankfully have done okay with most of them but am noticing that my one knee that has had several operations on, is giving me trouble again, mostly when my back is really acting up. It has started swelling and retaining fluid. Hopefully, it will settle down again, as it usually does.
I miss you, miss reading your informative posts, miss your presence here .
Anyway, I was just thinking about you and hoping that all is well there .
Sending you gentle hugs and warm thoughts,
Sandi

Hello, dear friends,
I just want to thank those of you who responded for your caring and concern. I've been having a rough time of it, but it is getting better...slowly. Have follow up appointment with my surgeon on Friday with lots of questions, of course, as I have more pain in the knee now than I did before the surgery. And we all know that no CP patient needs new pain sources! So I'm hoping he'll tell me it's normal - or better yet, that he can do something like maybe an injection. I've been doing tons of exercises and can bend the knee but squatting down is very painful - more than it was before.

I wish all of you the best. Your caring means more than I can say.

Hugs,
PaLady

Hey PA LADY,

It's been quite a while since I've talked with you, but I'm so glad to be back online and in touch with all my dear friends here.  I was wondering if you could give me a few details about what exactly you had done in the surgery with your knee.

I'm facing double knee replacements sometime in my future, including the cutting and shortening of the tendons to keep the new kneecaps in place.  Both of my knees have been bad since I was a teenager, when the DRs first wanted to do the replacements, but back then, they could only do one at a time, with an 18 month rehab period.  I didn't want to spend my last three years of High School rehabbing my knees, so I put off the surgeries indefinitely.  Technology has since gotten a lot better, but the DRs are have now been telling me to keep putting off the replacements as long as I possibly can, since the artificial joints won't last more than about 15 year.  They don't want me to have to do the replacements twice, but geez, I've been putting it off for 30 years at this point...how much longer do I have to suffer???

Anyway, I was just curious as to what kind of things they did to you and what your experience was like.  I'm even more concerned cuz I'm pretty much "waited out" at this point, and it worries me to hear that you are having more pain now than before your procedure.  I'll understand if you don't want to talk about it though.

Keeping you in my prayers,

scool

I hope that your doctor tells you it's normal. I miss you here! I don't want to be pushy, but is there any chance you will come back:(

Hey PAlady, I hope that you are starting to get some pain relief. What did the surgeon say? Just wanted to let you know I also miss reading your posts and I hope you are feeling better soon. Take care.
