Has anyone ever experienced or heard of leg pain (S1) after L4L5 laminectomy disectomy due to scarring or lack of proper post op therapy?

A new surgeon would like to do scar tissue removal and clean up with immediate physical therapy to prevent or keep scarring to a minimum.

I would like to hear success stories of scar tissue removal.

I don't know about spine surgery, but after (3) trigger finger surgery I've had to massage and stretch the incision areas very strongly several times a day for months to prevent the scar tissue from shrinking up everything in my hand. If I don't it will end up like a claw. I find it hurts less to do the stretches when I have it in fairly hot water, doing dishes or in the shower. I imagine the principle is similar.

Its a real mixed bag when it comes to scar tissue removal. In most cases it comes right back, that is why most drs are hesitant to remove the scar tissue and they can only remove so much without causing more problems. Some people tend to build it up much worse than others. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Take care.
