Had a cat bite, (Have 3 kitties, all boys, so cute), In February, my hubby
had gone out the garage door to smoke and Remington (Cat) came to me and
was on my lap when my Hubby came back in, the sound of the garage door
closing spooked the cat (Remington) so bad he turned and bit me, I treated the cut
antibacterial soap, antibotic ointment and it looked good the next day, but that night
all heck broke loose with my body and I ended up at a clinic getting a prescript
for an antibotic...well just finished the third antibotic doseage......
Also, I had an appointment with my Rheumy, he finally kept, and because I get
ill so easy, he said I won't ever be able to be on a Dmard (medicine) for the
Rheumatoid Arthritis (which is a set back for me) as he's really worried that if
I get ill on a DMARD medicine it could kill me, not good. It's good he's
looking out for me, but bad I can't go on a medicine that could halt the RA, also,
the MTX was put off as I had an infected cat bite, with luck I'll start the MTX in June
and not have any bad reactions. I'm also to start prednisone here soon when I feel better
for the RA, but have issues with the starting of it... I got off the antibotic yesterday and
coughed a lot last night, so I need to get better y'all...Oh and my kitties are doing good,
but hubby got scoulded (SP?) no more going out the garage door at night for him to smoke...
Long story sorry, and still no word from a PM Doctor I was hopeing to get into see...darn it,
he had some procedures I was hoping to try, that I saw listed from his my
low back pain and knee pain has been flairing up, knee could use an injection...Also dropping more
things with my left hand, could use a few good days just wishing ya know...
So that's why I've been away...hope things are going better for everyone....will get back to posting
again soon hopefully............ Has Pete posted lately? or WhiteBeard and SE you okay???

It's good to see your post Chartreux, but I'm sorry you've been sick. Infections are no fun and it sounds like it took awhile to get things under control for you. I hope you're finally feeling better, and that you'll be as healthy as possible in no time.

My hubby likes to roughhouse with our kitty and they swat back and forth at each other all the time. She nips us both when we play agressively with her, but she's quiet as anything when we're not playing. I bet she'd bite if startled like that though - not meaning to, but it happened sounds like that's what happened to you.

I'm glad to see you doctor is keeping tabs on you. Get well soon!

         Good afternoon Chartreux!
It seems that you have had some of the worst luck in the health Dept. these days shakehead
Whats it going to take to get you better? I know!....a little Prayer, and a lot of support! wink
It doesn't take much to spook a cat does it?!!! Ours goes through that everyonce in a while, and he is like a Bottle Rocket when it happens! shocked
Please stay on top of that cough! I have more fear of that than anything. Our Grandson ended up in the Hospital with the same thing just a few weeks ago. Dr's said if his mom had waited too much longer, he would not be here today. Poor little guy! I call him Smiley! smilewinkgrin
Thanks for asking about me, and I have to tell you that things are pretty good at the moment. My Dr finally raised the dose on my ER medication (Oxycontin) and it helped quite a bit. It took two letters from him to the Insurance to get it approved though. I paid out of pocket the first time and cost me $251 just for the Oxy. shocked
Don't tell anyone, but I'm also trying a Homeopathic OTC medication, and after 9 days the results are surprising. I'm not getting my hopes up just yet as there are a lot of variables and more testing will have to be done to see if it is really making a difference, or if I'm just having a couple of good days. What I can tell you is that yesterday for the first time, I was able to forgo one of my BT med's, and that is indeed a rare thing for me, and it looks like it will happen again today.
You get better! hear me! smilewinkgrin
   You are certianlly missed here!
       SE wink

Dear Chart,

Goodness, it is good to hear from you *hugg* I have long wanted to hear an update from you. I am terribly sorry that the cat bit became infected. That is a big setback for you. Worse, I remember how hopeful you were about trying the new RA medicine. It must be a big let down. Your doctor does have good reasoning for nothing wanting to go ahead with it... still it is disappointing. With a little luck, and a lot of prayer, you can begin the MTX on time. It would be so nice if you could finally get some relief.

Oh my new kitties! I am a sucker for the little ones! They just pull my heart strings. Are you going to adopt them out or are they staying with you? I bet they are a handful, but you have always had a very giving heart so they couldn't ask for a better start!

Now do us a big favor and take it easy!!! You have had a hard time the last 6 months. Know you are in our hearts and prayers.

*warm hugg*

Hey Chart~~

Great to hear from you. I'm sure sorry about the kitty bite. I have 4 new cats, one of which is a kitten. I have some scratches here and there from a startled cat but nothing has happened like yours. Wow, what a miserable mess you had to endure.

Best of luck with your doctor 'stuff' coming up. Seems our health care can consume our entire lives! So let's stick together and make sure we have some fun and friendship here.

Warm hugs,

Hi Chart
Boy you seem to go from out of the frying pan and into the fire! I do hope that things start turning around for you and you start getting better! That left hand of yours is a bit worisome Chart!  Becareful, and make sure you take it easy! OK?  Anyway I am here, yesterday morning I got a call from my new realtor ( at 8 AM) and she wanted to show the house at 11 that morning, of course I said yes! but I really had to do some scrambling, and first off I had to get out of bed, I have been staying up late ( 1 or 2 AM) and sleeping in late (9 or 10 AM)  anyway, I really had to bust my but to get everything presentable! Then I left the house, and went to town and had chinese buffet for lunch! Came home, but have not heard from the realtor yet on how the showing went. We had switched realtors in late January, and this realtor took pictures of all the inside and outside of the house, and also a walk thru video, and it is listed on line on all the major house listing sites! But this is my first showing since hiring this new realtor!
Anyway, with that and waiting to hear from my orthopedic surgeon with an appointment with another orthopod for a second oppinion that he wants me to have before going ahead with a total hip replacement not much is happening with me. I do go to pulmonaryh rehab three days a week now and I have to to that for about 7 or 8 more weeks!
Chart I am not trying to take over your post I just wanted to let you know how I am doing! But from the sounds of it , your really having a rough time of it right now! Please do take it easy on yourself! As I said with everything else you have going on, that left hand of yours, really does not sound good at all!  So be gentle with yourself and do not do things you should not be doing!  You know I (we) are here for you YOU!  and worry about you!  Thanks for giving us the up-date and asking about me, Please keep us informed about your progress and everything!
Chart my friend I keep you in my thoughts and prayers!!!!

Char, I thought I had written something to you and see that I have not. I am not surprised that you got sick from the cat bite, the same thing happened to my husband. He had a mean red streak running up his arm from a bite.

You are right, that is bad news about the DMARDS for your RA. My sister cannot take them either for the very same reason, she gets infections so easy and the dr says its too high of a risk to take. She does take Prednisone and it helps her. Her dr will not consider the MTX.

I know several people on MTX and it does help a great deal with the RA and helps stop the destruction it can do to joints. The lady that helps me when I buy new eye glasses has RA and had to have a total knee replacement because of it, is also on a very low dose of MTX and she says she is doing great, so this may be something for you that will help.I am in total awe of this lady, she went out 6 weeks for the knee replacement and was back at work standing on her feet 8 hours a day. She no longer walks with a limp. I asked her if she had a lot of pain when she came back to work and she no, my horrible pain was gone after I got my new knee.

So why have you not been able to get an appt with this PM dr you are talking about. Have you seen him before or not? Is it your dr just not making the referral or what?

Hope you get to feeling better soon. Take care.
