Thursday Koffee Klatch

If you are new to this forum family then you may be wondering what kind of goofy question is that on a health care forum. idea   We all suffer with medical conditions and with most of us there is pain involved...sometimes a lot of pain. Or maybe you are the loved one of one of these persons. This forum is all about how we help and support each other, how we gain back more quality to our lives, and how we can learn and share what we gain along the way and hopefully make not only our lives better but the lives of others who come to join us.

But we need to also remember that there is the other side of life...the side that isn't concentrated on illness and pain. That's why we started the daily Koffee Klatch. This is a time to laugh, reminisce, chit-chat about the silly things in our lives...all fun things and no pain. In fact the 'P' word is not allowed...  turn    So each day we share our thoughts or experiences on a different topic. Often it includes food, sometimes we talk about our past, and other times we just get goofy! Laughter is our goal. So, please join us whether this is your very first day on Healing Well or you're a seasoned veteran.

Daily Question:

 Do you take vitamins?

Yes - my food intake isn't good, so I take a daily multivitamin. I also take a separate magnesium supplement and I take glucosamine. Seems to work - my GI doctor is always dumbfounded by how good my blood-work is (considering that I eat mainly porridge and mushy vegies 'cos it's all my stomach will tolerate), and my spasms have decreased dramatically since I added the extra magnesium to my mix. Not sure if the glucosamine is doing anything, but I'm taking it in hope.
CRPS since 1999, diagnosed in 2005 and since spread to full body, spasms, dystonia & contractures, gastroparesis, orthostatic hypotension.

On Oxycontin/Endone, Topamax, Mobic, Magnesium, Florinef, Somac, Cipramil. Have a spinal cord stimulator, intrathecal pump with baclofen & bupivacaine and doing physio.

I take a huge time-release vitamin 'horse pill", every third day. This may not be well justified, but I assume I get most of the necessary nutrients through my routine meals and just take the vitamin a few times a week as a back-up, for my body to absorb something or other that may happen to be lacking at that time.

On my night stand I have one of those plastic daily pill containers and as I weekly fill it with my other meds, I drop a vitamin into a few of the boxes.
C4-T4 Scoliosis (disk degeneration, stenosis, narrowed neuroforamen, bone spurs), RT hip and SI joint damage from car accident. Also, Supraventricular tacycardia and mitral valve prolapse syndrome.
Current meds: Ultram ER 300mg daily, breakthrough - hydrocodone 10-15mg, or oxycodone 5-7.5mg. .25-.5mg ativan as needed for sleep, Verapamil 240mg SR (for tachycardia).

I took vitamins up until a 2 or 3 months ago. I feel so *funky* these days, maybe I should start on them again. I felt better when I was on them.

love and hugs my friends
