Hello there! I've got a question. Does anybody have a hard time getting up from a squat because your knees are not strong enough? I can't step up to get in a van, suv, or a truck. Help!!

My car broke down once and I called a tow truck. I tried to get into the cab, and it ended up the driver had to pull me into the cab, another guy behind me pushed. Even then, it was a struggle.

        Good afternoon Potsie!

My memory is not the best around, but I do remember your name here a while back. However I fail to recall, what your health issues were that brought you here in the first place! rolleyes

When I see a thread like this, the obvious comes to mind, and I'm thinking you need to ring up the Dr and make an appointment.

I myself am 55 now, and I use to have great leg and knee strength, however; those days are long gone, and to squat and then come back up from it takes quite a bit of effort for me. sad
Your condition sound a little more serious though, but I wouldn't even venture a guess as to why with limited information here.

Lots of variables here, and too many guesses for an educated answer from me.

Sorry, I can't help, but I do wish you well, and hope you find a reason why. We just hope it's not too serious though!

Squatting? What's that? Oh wait, I vaguely remember being able to do that many moons ago-LOL. If I had to squat down to pick something up right now, I would never be able to get back up. So I do understand what you are talking about but have no real solution for you. Specific exercises may be helpful so something to ask your Dr. about.

It started when I got pregnant with my youngest son. I was in the store and squatted down to get something on the lower shelf, and couldn't get back up.

Dear Potsie,

It is good to hear from you. I hope you are remembering to take it easy. I do not have the problem you describe. Well... not in that way. It might be time to talk with your doctor about it  smhair   Having a problem like that has got to be very difficult to deal with. I can see how it would pose problems everyday. It has to be frustrating. Hang in there and stay strong!

What's that? Not with my bad knees, lol. It's been so long since I was able to squat I forgot what that is.

I think it's why my back is so screwed up. Having to bend over instead of squatting. I did mention it to my doctor, but he was focusing on my back problem.
