Hello, i just joined today, this is my second post.
Dr. Slomba at Beth Israel is my Pain Management Doctor and
he is just really awful and i have complained to his bosses and higher because in the past he has withheld medication from me and/or his nurses did also.  That is a very scary situation.  I went to see him to review what we could do in terms of changing my meds to give me pain relief but
not to interfere with my COPD.  I had specifically told him i was interested
in the Electrical Stimulant machine to be installed in my spine.the CSC
When i got there today, He was particularly as bad as he could be
He had an unidentified assistant sit in on the appointment.
And then he cut off almost all of my meds.  No replacement.
No taking me down slowly off the Oxycodone.  He did give me
the duragesic patches.  That was all.
(1). i need new pain doctor pretty quickly, i am in the East
Village in NYC, if someone has someone great and kind
and caring and knowledgeable to recommend.
(2) I want to file coplaints against Dr. Slomba but I do not
know who or where or how to file complaints if someone
has a suggestion.  I just don't think he should be practicing medicine
if he is going to mess around with my health and welfare and
obviously not care if he hurts me.  What an awful person.
Thanks, Marsha

     Dear Marsha,

Good morning  :-)   I do not think I am introduced myself yet, I am sorry about that. My name is Dani and it is very nice to meet you. Welcome to the Healing Well Community. As you probably noticed we have a wonderful support group with many compassionate and knowledgeable members.

I did read you post here, and I will look for more from you.. Its been super busy here at my house! I have to say though... It would be a good idea to switch doctors next time you have a problem with the lac of care. Sure, file a complaint if you feel you were mistreated, but I would advise against continuing to see that doctor further. Chances are that if the doctor did not care for your wellbeing before he will likely not do so in the future.

I do not have much knowledge regarding doctors in New York. Here is a few things you might try.

1. Go back to your primary care physician and get a new referral. Let your primary care physician know what happened. Your primary care can track down (formally request) your records from the other doctor you were seeing and help you get to a new one.

2. Might want to try a University Hospital. Initially appointments are hard to get. New patient visits take considerably longer than follow-up appointments. It might be worth the wait though. Often time they are able to offer the most updated tools and resources for pain management.

University Hospitals

I am so sorry you were treated with such callous disregard. I wish so much that it wasn’t a common occurrence. Sadly it is. My only advice is that in the future, if you come across a doctor like that, immediately look for a new doctor. They often do more damage than good. You don’t have the time, nor the money, to waste.

Again, it was very nice to meet you. I look forward to hearing from you again.
