I am wondering if anyone knows if there is some connection between ddd and fibromylagia or for that matter, other back injuries. i had been diagnosed with ddd in 1996 or 97,  after about 4-5 more years  i was diagnosed with fibromylagia also, i was blessed to have a doctor, (he was my gp) who was able to correctly diagnose the problem, in the early years fibro was not easy to diagnose nor were the syptoms believed. it was the "imaginary disease". those of us who suffer from fibro know nobody would want to make the symptoms up.  fibro is very draining on your  whole system. fibro is one of the reasons i cant have my own sister (certified massage therapist) give me a massage.  fibro is very troubling because its as if your entire body is bruised but no black and blue marks.  anyway im wondering how many other cp have been diagnosed with fibro a couple of years after whatever your original back, leg etc. injuries have been diagnosed.  by this time i have a laundry list of things that have originated from my back injury.

I don't know the answer to your question, but i do know that i was diagnosed with degenerative disk disease before i was diagnosed with fibro.  I also have scoliosis, which gives me more pain than the ddd. The scoliosis dx came sometime in '96-97, the ddd dx came in june 09, celiac disease dx in october 09, and fibro in may 10. Not sure how related they all are related other than they all cause pain!!!

joysotay you are absolutley right about, no matter what order they came in  they have one thing in common terrible pain. thank you i got a little laugh at that, not anything that is happening to you or any of your very serious and painful disorders, but the fact that well the cp is the thing that brings them all together.  hope you are having a low pain day

Trama, stress can certain play a role with Fibro, there has been some older talk
about narrowing of the T1 making fibro worse. T1 is the start point from the cervical
neck to the throacic section of the spine. But I'd have to be almosted paralised before they
did any surgery on that part for me, as I do have narrowing at T1.
It has been noted that car accidents can bring on fibro or injury. A good moist heat pack
can help on bad days....Maybe ask your doctor about Lyrica if fibro is suspected.
Healing hugz and well wishes, the fibro forum is very good here.
* So many dx's I could write a book* "It would be nice if we could use the edit button in real life"...
