Hi everyone I'm in so much pain. I called my pcp Monday because the last Fentanyl patch I had was to be replaced last night. I didn't hear anything from them, so I called today and the receptionist told me that a script had been sent in the mail today for the oxycodone. I said nothing for the Fentanyl patches? She told me no. I told her I asked for Fentanyl patches too, so she said she would let the dr. know. Now I'm going to have to wait probably until at least Friday. Now I'm sitting here with all this pain to deal with, and I'm scared I'm going to go into withdrawls. I really wish that that receptionist could have done her job right. I'm really frustrated and angry right now. I've been getting Jerome to put the BenGay on my back, but that only helps some for about 30 minutes and then nothing. I only have 5mg oxycodone, and i took two today, and it didn't do anything much. What do I do? I'm practically read to cry. It hurts so bad. I don't wish this on anyone, but if they could only walk in my shoes for one day, maybe they would be more careful. I guess next month I'll call three or four days before the last one is to be changed. I was hardly able to go to sleep last night. It was storming outside when i went to bed. Storms scare me, but it was the pain of course that kept me awake. I'm so glad that you guys and girls are here for me. I don't know what I would do without you all. Just to know that you all know what I'm going thru, and that I'm not alone. I have generalized anxiety disorder, and my anxiety is going thru the roof too.

I hope you're all having a low pain night. I love you all.

hugs
Loretta

Loretta...

Well, I just posted you a long response :) and it got deleted.  Anyway I basically just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you.... and that I'm sorry for your pain.  I hope you can figure out a better way to get your patches....because it's not a med you can go without.

I'll be thinking about you tonight.... take good care.

Oh goodness Loretta!

*warm hugg* This is not good at all. Not one bit. Is there some way for Jerome to pick it up for you instead of waiting for the mail? There is no way the Oxy is going to be able to work as well as your patches. It wont be able to even touch your level of pain. Going without the patch for two days will wreak havoc on your body. It will take days to get back on track with pain and medication built up in your system. I really wish the young lady had been more competent about the task. Her errors..  I am so very sorry. I don't have any advise to offer except try to clear up your schedule for the next 3 or 4 days. Just keep it to the bare minimum. Even daily tasks will take every ounce of energy and strength you have.

We will keep you in our prayers but gosh I am so sorry. I know you face some very hard days ahead. Hang in there!

I've been in your shoes. With the VA you have to call in refills at least 10 days ahead. So I watch the dates on my bottles and try to call them in on time. Sometimes I have extra at the end of the month so I'll save them for awhile. I'm allowed to take 6 hydrocodein a day some days I only need 4 or 5 so that also gives me a cushion. With the patch you don't have the luxory. I can totally understand your frustration. That's why I joined this site tonight, to try and connect with people who understand. For the last week my meds have only gotten my pain down to a 3 or 4 at the best. I'd say 7 is the average over the last week. I haven't been able to do anything and it's so frustrating. I'm absolutely sick of watching TV. I prefer to read but I can't focus when I'm in this much pain. My best advice for you is to establish a routine or mark the calendar for when you need to call in refills. Most of mine refill on the same day of the month so I only have to worry about one day. If some have a 60 or 90 day supply I still call in the refill with the others and the system just tells me when it's due to be sent out. I have to keep everything simple so I can remember. I'm intelligent but have a hard time remembering little important details like calling in a refill. I see now that I missed my muscle relaxer when I called in my other scripts so I'll be w/o those for 10 days.

Thank you so much everyone. I can't send each of you a separate email right now, so I will just send one. You all know i appreciate your support and love. I don't know what I'll do if I don't get my patches tomorrow. I'm scared that something serious is going to happen. I hope my body can hang on until I get them and the withdrawls don't get too bad.

Hi Joel, thank you. You would get some good support if you would start your own post on the main page. Then everyone can see you and support you too. Welcome to the forum. There are some really wonderful people here. Take care.

love and hugs to everyone

After YEARS of CP, I have slowly discovered how to always have at least a weeks worth handy. Learned this really years ago when my CP MD went on vacation and I was almost out and you can imagine what's it's like to get meds from the on call MD. I've done this by calling a few day before its really time and they usually release the RX because its so close, so I've saved from the overlap and another tactic is when I'm having a rare mild pain day, I really try not to take the BT meds as much so I have and extra supply handy in case MD not available. The other thing I thought of years ago--and sorry to freak people out if they haven't already thought of this--but what would happen if there is a natural disaster and hospitals are shut down or only dealing with life threatening injuries, think about it.

Thank you all for the hugs and support. I did make it through the night, but it took me forever to go to sleep, even with the Seroquel I take to help me sleep. I am not doing any better, as I didn't receive my script in the mail. I hope and pray that it comes tomorrow. I'm so angry. Next month I'm calling like a week before my refill is due. I don't want to go thru this again. This is crazy. They are doctors and nurses and they know dead gum well that I'm going thru withdrawls now and not counting the extreme pain. I've been dealing with it the best I know how. I don't know what to do.

A nurse called today to tell me that my ct and mri results were in, but my dr. hasn't gone over them yet. She said that there were changes on both of them. There's supposed to be three of them. Anyway i'm thinking i should have asked her about the script, but i was three fourths asleep. I should have called them back, but i'm so frustrated I was afraid I would start and it wouldn't be pretty.

I hope you're all having a low pain day and night.

love and hugs

Dear Loretta,

Hey there! *hugg* I am glad you stopped by. I am so sorry your pain is so high right now. To make matters worse you are going through withdrawal of one of the worst kinds there is. I wish there was some way that I could help you.

Yes!! I absolutely agree! Call them 5 days ahead each month. 3 days for them to get their you-know-what's in gear and 2 days for mail delivery. You just cannot go through this again. I really wish you had asked about the meds, but I know she has just woken you up. At the very least, please consider mentioning the incident to the head RN or your doctor. It is important that it doesn't happen to you ever again, or anyone else for that matter.

I am a little worried about your MRIs. Did she set up an appointment to go over the results with your doctor? I hope so, that might be a good time to talk about the medication withdraw too. Be sure to let us know what you find out, it does not sound good at all. The last thing you need is even more on your shoulders right now.

Try to rest as much as you are able...  if you even can rest. Know you are in our prayers tonight.

*warm hugg*

Thank you so much Dani. (((((((((((hugs))))))))) for you too. I sure hope that script comes tomorrow. It it doesn't, they're hearing from me. i'm going to make an appointment to see my dr. to find out exactly is on the ct and mris. I wish i would have done it today when I was talkiing to her, but i was too tired. I hope I can remember through all this to call her Monday if she doesn't call me first. I'm going to really complain about this. This is just not right. None of us chronic pain patients should have to go thru this. I'm just miserable. I've been taking half my Seroquel that i've been taking for sleep, but tonight I took a whole one. I'm allowed three, so don't worry, I'm not overmedicating. I'm prescribed three. I sure hope it helps me to sleep. I went to bed between 3:30am and 4:00 am and didn't get to sleep until after 7 sometime. Then the nurse called between 12:30pm and 1pm. That's all the sleep I got, and it was fitful sleep part of the time. I wonder if that's caused by the withdrawls. Well, i'll go for now. I'll let you all know if I get the script or not. If I don't, you'll hear a reall mad woman on here. I promise i won't curse, but you know what I mean. I sure do appreciate all your support. I couldn't get thru this without you guys and my husband. I hope you're all having a low pain night. Everyone take care.

love and hugs
Loretta
