Having my SCS revision tomorrow morning. I'm pretty stressed about it now...the way the doctor was talking, it's going to be quite complicated due to the amount of scarring and having to avoid the catheter for my intrathecal pump.

I should be back early next week, but please keep your fingers crossed. This will be surgery number five, so is really my last chance to get things right.

Good luck tomorrow Laura. I am hoping for nothing but the best for you and the outcome of the scs implant. I wish your surgeon steady, sure , competent hands, and the correct placement of the leads.
Good luck,

I understand Laura was going to try and take a Netbook with her, so that hopefully she could update when she was able to. Here's to hoping for steady hands with the surgeon, a swift surgery with no complications, and many bennefits for my dear friend.

Oh everyone - I can't say how much your love and support means to me.

I had surgery yesterday morning and it was truly, truly horrendous. I remember last time this doctor did surgery on me, he was a bit quick off the mark in not waiting for his local anaesthetic to work properly, and talking to one of the nurses last night, he's certainly developed quite a reputation for it. Let's just say he lived up to his reputation sad Everything he did initially, I felt. It's not often that I cry with pain, but the pillow they had for my face was soaked and then some. I'm not sure what is going on with my leg either. When he was feeding the introducer in yesterday, I was getting searing pain through my lower back, hip and down the back of my left leg, but I don't think anyone listened when I tried to tell them that. That pain has got more persistent through the night and I'm realising this morning that my left leg is also weaker than it was :(

I haven't seen the doctor this morning but he's supposed to be in some time today. My tech's been in twice already though, and at least looks like we'll get some good stim coverage.

My love to you all

Laura

Laura....

I've been thinking of you and wondering how you were.  Reading your post made me hurt for you.... I'm sorry you had such pain.  I've had so many procedures and I know what you are saying about a doctor not letting you get properly numb.  Again, I hurt for ya .

I'm sorry, too, that your leg is weak.

I hope you are resting and feeling a bit better tonight... and that tomorrow is a better day for you.  Check in when you are up to it.  Thinking of you.

Hi Laura. I hope you're in less pain tonight. When i read your post, it made me think of how bad i was hurting. My heart goes out to you. It doesn't sound good with your leg being weak. I would mention that to the dr. if you haven't already. I sure hope he's been in to see you by now. You take care. Keep us updated as you're able.

love and hugs

Thanks Christina and Loretta. I talked to my doc this morning about the leg issue. He thinks it is most likely torn scar tissue from him removing my old lead, or bruised nerve roots because he had a lot of trouble getting the new lead in.

He is a little concerned that I may have an epidural haematoma as a result of all the bleeding during surgery, but thinks my back pain would be much more severe if that was the case. For now he is just monitoring - he's phoned twice to check on me and I have strict instructions to tell the nurses immediately if it gets worse.

*hugs to all of you*

Dearest Laura,

Hoping your pain is finally starting to subside; you make those nurses keep you comfortable. Glad your doctor is keeping an eye on you. Hopefully he's right about your leg, and with time it'll be fine again.

Is there any way to go after the surgeon for malpractise? He sounds positively barbaric! I wonder how he'd feel if he suffered his own treatment. Just glad it's over now and also glad that it sounds like your new leads will do the trick.

*gentle hugs*

Your welcome Laura. I'm here for you anytime. I hope you're in less pain today and that your leg is better. I sure hope you don't have an epidural hematoma. I hope your doctor is right, that your pain would be worse if you did have one. You take care, and keep us updated when you're able. I know your little netbook is handy. My husband and I got one the other day a piece, and I love it. You can take it anywhere that they have wifi and chat away, check your email, surf the net, etc. I'm glad you had one to take with you to the hospital. I never knew that the little thinkgs would be so much fun. Well, i'll let you go. As I said you take care and I hope you're feeling better. I hope the SCS is working for you now.

love and hugs

Thanks everyone. I'm feeling pretty bad this morning and looks like I might be in hospital longer than I planned :( I've spiked a fever a couple of times for no apparent reason, then last night I fainted and stirred up that new back/leg pain 100 times over. A couple of the nurses had to all but carry me back to my bed; one held me while I shook and the other got pain meds together for me. Don't know how much I had last night. They started out with my normal oxy, then double, then tramadol, finally it was an antinausea med that sent me off .

I will keep you all posted and I hope you are all having lower pain days *hugs*
