Hi everyone. I have had some shortness of breath today. I assume it's from the mass in my lung. It's really scaring me. I guess I'm calling the pulmonologist tomorrow and see if he takes my insurance and see if I can get an appointment asap. This one symptom is scaring the snot out of me. I was just making coffee and walked from the kitchen to the living room, which isn't very far in an apartment, and it started. I'm freakin' out. You all please tell me I'm worrying for nothing. sad I hope you're all having a low pain night and a good sleep.

love you all
hugs

Loretta....

Sorry you are dealing w/ SOB (shortness of breath)... I have it, too, due to my heart/lung issues... I can't even climb the stairs here at home w/out having to go slow - or I can't breathe and my heart races like crazy.  It's frustrating.

I definitely would say to call and set the appointment and find out what's going on.  I *try* not to worry when I don't know what's going on....because, more often than not, it ends up being for nothing.  Right?  That being said, it's hard not to worry when you don't know what's going on....I know.

Good luck w/ getting a quick appointment to the pulmonologist.

Hi Loretta

I do agree with you that it would be a scary thing to happen and it would worry the best of us on here, but I would say phone and make that appointment and get it checked out, I am sure they will be able to put your mind a rest. You have been doing brillant lovie (((((((hugs))))))) and I hope you get it sorted out soon so you get peace of mind. Thinking of you and hope you manage to rest and not worry to much.

Thank you all for your support. I've got to find out if the pulmonologist takes my insurance. I guess I'll try and look it up on the internet. That would be easier. I appreciate all your encouragement.

Tina. I'm sorry to hear that you get so short of breath going up the stairs in your own home. I wish there was something the doctor could do to help you with that. Do you use inhalers? I have asthma too and I use an inhaler. It hardly acts up, so I don't use the inhaler very often. i hope you feel better.

Take care everyone

Loretta,

I do have an inhaler.... but don't use it as much as I should.  I've used different kinds, but currently use xopenex.  It helps some....but it's mostly just lifestyle adaptations I have to make, such as pacing myself and so forth. The shortness of breath is just one of the symptoms of my health issues.  It IS frustrating, though.

Hope you are able to call you doctor and get an appointment.

Hi all. I looked my insurance up and the doctor that my pcp referred me to is on it, so I'm going to give her a call. She has a foregin name, so I hope I can understand her. I'm just relieved that I don't have to call my pcp and get another referrel. I haven't had any problems today with the shortness of breath, so I haven't thought about it very much. You all take care.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble. I thought an appt had been made back when they did the MRI's. I hope you don't have a long wait to see the specialist.I have SOB from COPD, guess thats why I am on oxygen, huh, lol. I use two different inhalers and they do help open the airways.

Take care and try to stop freaking out, that will not help.

Stray,

Are you on oxygen?  I may have known that, but just forgot.  I was on O2 for almost 1 1/2 years.... 3 liters, round the clock.  Oh, it was frustrating!  That's the main reason we had to move from Colorado back to California.  I gradually weaned off the oxygen - but there are still times that I think I need it.  When I have hospital stays - the oxygen always, always makes me feel better - breathing wise, pain wise and so forth.

Loretta,

I'd still encourage you to call and make an appointment w/ the pulmonary doctor - ASAP.  I believe in advocating for our health needs - and it seems "something" is going on - and it's best to find out what's going on, instead of worrying about it - even if it seems better today.  Make sense?  So, call that doctor!!

Take care all. --Tina

Thanks Tina. I do need a kick in the pants. I didn't call the dr. like i planned to. Jerome and I went out shopping and it completely slipped my mind. I have a really short memory as it is. I have the appointment tomorrow with my pcp and she's going to probably get onto me. I need to call that dr. I guess I'm scared of what she'll find. I've gotta do it though, you're right. Thanks for your support. I hope you're having as good a day and night as is possible. Give those girls a kiss for me.

love and hugs

Yeah, Loretta, you really need to call the doctor.  I know life gets busy - trust me, I know - but you have to make your health concerns a top priority.  I have memory issues, too.... if so, just make an ongoing list of the things you have to accomplish - with this being numero uno.  To me, the "not knowing" is worse than figuring out what it truly is.

I'm still in my PJ's today - although I've accomplished a lot around the house; have done literally 9 loads of laundry; picked up around here; did some paperwork.... and now?  I want to collapse, but again - I can tell the insomnia is coming on hard again.  Bobby's taking the boys to a baseball game tonight (Oakland A's).  So, it will be me and the girls (and my 7 year old) hanging out for the night.

Anyway, call your doctor tomorrow; really, you need to do that!!  (That's the mother hen coming out in me!!).

Take good care --Tina

Thanks Tina. I like the mother hen thing. You enjoy the time with the girls and your 7 year old tonight. I hope Bobby and the boys have fun and that the Oakland A's win, unless they're playing Buffalo. hehe It sounds like you have accomplished a lot today. Good for you. Get some rest tonight when you can. I'll probably be around if you can't sleep late tonight, possibly in the chat room. You take care and i hope you have a low pain night.

love and hugs my friend
