Hi buttercup-I don't have cancer but have just recently got over bronchitis and that's some nasty cough. What color is your sputum because if it's rusty or green you need to go to the Dr. and get some puffers and antibiotics. Having cancer you're already immune compromised so it's easy to acquire an infection. It could be pneumonia also. I lost strength with that recent cough as well as being on antibiotics I was tired and didn't even have a temperature just the nasty cough and my heart would flutter too. Get to the Dr. and get checked out. I hope you won't need to be admitted at the hospital. Oh yes I not only got puffers and antibiotics two sets as it lasted that long and Hycodan cough syrup to stop the cough at night. Pray you feel better. Sara OX

Thanks for your reply! I actually collapsed today playing netball, felt pretty weak before it but thought it was just the leukaemia so kept playing but next thing i know i'm at the hospital! I have pneumonia, home now but if it get's even slightly worse have to go to the hospital/might have to be admitted anyway if i'm not strong enough to fight it and depending on the test to see how bad it is!

Thanks :)

Oh, buttercup. I'm sorry that you have pneumonia. I had a horrible cough along with the swine flu, and I remember that it was just terrible because it was so hard to breathe. I ended up going to the hospital, and they gave me breathing treatments which helped a lot. I hope that it gets better quickly. Thinking of you.

Hugs,

Flower

Buttercup-Glad you went to the hospital if you can't breathe you'll probably need IV antibiotics and oxygen and maybe ventolin treatments. Practice deep breathing and coughing every couple of hours especially when you get better to prevent pneumonia in the future. Splint yourself and hold a pillow when you cough to save some of your muscles getting sore. Praying you'll be better soon. Sara

Hi Buttercup,

I used to have leukemia. The cough sounds like bronchitis or pneumonia. You do have a compromised immune system due to having leukemia. I just recently spent 11 days in the hospital with pneumonia. I am sure that they will be giving you some IV antibiotics, and probably breathing treatments. You are going to feel weak and tired, your red blood cells are probably running low and you may need a transfusion.

Glad you went to the hospital and you are in your doctors hands now. Please listen to what your team of doctors tell you to do and get plenty of rest and fluids. Let everyone else do for you right now, it is what you need. Pampered and taken care of.

Hi Everyone

Thank you for your posts, I am still in the hospital. Have been pretty much out of it up until today so haven't been able to get on here! I do have pneumonia so being treated with antibiotics and on oxygen until I can breathe better!

The cancer has spread more than they thought at first so I might start Chemo in the next few days.. It's my decision and I know I should start it as soon as possible but I have so much on in the next 2 weeks that I need to just get through or I will be stressing! Will make that decision tomorrow though,

for now I need some sleep! I will update you as soon as possible, and if I am not able to my friend who used this forum a few times before spinal surgery (spinalproblem) said she can come on here and let you all know what's happening!

Thanks everyone for your support!

Oh my little Buttercup, I have been so worried about you. I have been praying hard hon. God

is there with you ok. Get all the rest you need and please don't stress. It is so important

that your body gets rest right now and repairs. And if the docs say it is important to start the

chemo now, then that is what you need to do for your best chances of a recovery. Talk to your

teachers hon, they will understand and your work and tests can be done when you are stronger. OK

I love you tons. I am with you baby. Email me when you can. And yes I remember Maddie.

That will be so sweet of her to keep us up to date when you cannot do it.

Soft hugs my angel.. sleep tight.
