First I would like all of the well wishes for my appt. A large thank you, you have no idea how much it means to me to have so much sincere support.

I had a very good conversation with my Docs. PA, who I almost always see.  Ever since this neurotransmitter was installed first to deep, then well I actually dont know why its not working now, and that was last July, I have only seen his PA. But thats not the issue.  So I explained to her what was going on with my fingers, my left leg, which only started hurting about 6 months ago.  I kept hoping that both of these things would go away if I did not acknowledge them.  But we all know that does not happen often.

So for my fingers-hands she gave me a sample tube of something called Voltaren Gel, since I cannot take Nsaids at all, and I have tried just about all of them.  They all cause me intense stomach problems, and I am not trying to have bleeding ulcers.  To my very pleasant suprise I used the gel just as the directions said, and this morning my fingers did not ache anywhere close to what they had been, they had been hurting so bad, it would wake me up in the middle of the night several times.  So I am very happy with the results of the gel.

On my next appt. which is June 1., if there is not enough improvement with my legs and for that matter my back she will increase my meds., no questions asked.  I think that this was fair, and I am going to hope and pray that both will improve.  I will say that I am probably going to go ahead and increase the meds regardless of how my leg is feeling since overall my lower back where the intense pain is neverending is not holding up well as my meds have not been increased in 3 and 1/2 years, in that time I have lost 3 inches, I think I had already complained that as an adult I was and had been 5'9. which among other things when you are taller you can hide your weight better, and I have always been taller than both my girls, who now tower over me, and dont seem to be able not to tease me about this, calling me shorty.  I do not appreciate it at all.

So there it is, again thanks to all for your help, it is very much appreciated and most helpful.  Hoping All are having veryvery low pain today and all days.

That Votaren gell is a NSAID but since you aren't swallowing it it doesn't have as much of a GI effect. However, like NSAIDS it will work better the longer you use it.

It sounds like you had a good appointment and are pleased with the treatment plan. I am glad for you.

Why would they not increase your medication at the appt yesterday instead of waiting yet another month? After 3 and a half years you'd think there would ALREADY be no questions asked. am I just being naive or am I right in anyone else's opinion about that? That seems like if you've stayed at this dose for that long then you know when it works and when it doesn't. And frankly I'm really surprised that you were able to get the medication to last for THIS long, like that is quite a long long time. I'm surprised after a year or a little more that you didn't need to increase your dosage.

Well I hope you do get that increase 'no questions asked'. If I were you then I'd get the increase anyways, because from the way it sounds... you don't know when the NEXT time they'd allow you to increase so in my opinion I'd increase my medication and then if you dont need it then dont take it all everyday, you know?

To CrohnsPatient, one of the reasons my Pm doctor didnt immediately increase my meds is that although I have been on the same meds for almost 4 years, I have only been seeing this PM doctor for not quite a year.

When my original doctor took a new and better job in Dec 2006 I had been seeing him since 1991.  When he left he gave me three months worth of prescriptions, because I think he knew how difficult It was going to be to replace him.  He had know idea how much difficulty it would actually be.

By the time I found the PM doctor I have know, I had been through 3 of the most worthless PM doctors in a 3 state area.  The 3rd doctor i went to was great but after a little over a year of being treated again like a human being, this group of PM doctors moved there practice out of the area, It was so out of the area I could not get there using Public transportation, which is how I get everywhere.

So the 4th PM doctor along with the first, second and well the 4th doctor i am speaking of right now, were in the PM doctor care because they are cash cows, sometime around the late 90s and early 2000, so many PM doctors sprang up in every place you could find.  This is a very lucrative business, bringing in millions of money to these PM doctors.  So after weeding through so many of these greedy, could care less what was really going on with my body, if finally found the PM doctor I have know.

He is the 5th and I hope last PM doctor I am going to have, my very first appt. with him I know right away he is a humanitarian, another doctor just like my original doctor.  He took his oath very seriously and treated me with respect and caring I had not seen in many years.  So because he is looking out for my best interest, I am willing to wait one more month to increase my meds, which I know is what needs to be done.  I understand that he would want to try something else at least for a month instead of just handing me more meds without trying something else first.

Now believe me I know my meds need to go up.  I live in this body, I more than anyone know how I feel, and I am confident when I see him on June 1st, I will get what I need to make my quality of life better.  So for this month I will be patient and on June 1st I know I will get the meds I need so that I can have a life with as little pain and possible.  Thank you so much for your concern, I feel you have been down a bad road of PM and other doctors that are in the business for the millions of money that can be made in this type of business.  Hoping you are having a low pain day and for that matter I am hoping you are having more low pain days than bad days.
thank you for your very sincere concern, you have know idea how much I apprecitate it.
