Dear Friends of Dex,

I regret to inform you that he passed away this morning (May 29) just after 1AM. As many of you know, he had been undergoing treatment for his second AML diagnosis and despite the best of care, his condition worsened May 20th. He transitioned peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

I’m so sorry to bring you this sad news. I consider myself very lucky in that I got to know Dex outside of the confines of HW (even if only in writing) and if anyone has any questions or just wants to talk, I'll be trolling around chat (I'm a little depressed - gee, I wonder why?).

With kindest regards,

DarkWolf

Hi Dark...I'm so shocked to read this as he was doing really well at home on May 23...

I will certainly be praying for his family and friends as they must be totally taken aback....it's so much more difficult when something like this happens out of the blue..

Very sad....

Thank you Buttercup and Suesueky...

I'm sorry Snowbunny (and to anyone else) to whom this news comes to as a shock. He never let on how much pain he was in, nor that he was terminal; Dex let me in enough to know, but it wasn't my place to tell anyone (which was difficult!) He did not want anyone who may be going through similar circumstances to lose hope - nor should they. He was unbelievably brave and kind...

...And I'm sure his family appreciate all the kind thoughts being sent their way.

I am so shocked and saddened to hear that we have lost Dex. I certainly enjoyed our conversations

in the chat room. He was a fighter to the very end. When he posted that it was now involving

his CSF, cerebral spinal fluid, I knew it wasn't good.  He was brave to the end.

We'll miss you Dex, esp. in the chat room.

My sympathies to family and friends.

No more pain or suffering Dex. Now you can live the happy life.

      Love

       Suzane

I only knew of him from reading his introduction post..So the last post in that thread said he was home and doing well and feeling good...I was thinking that this recurrance came on suddenly over the last few months from what I read...so didn't have the added info from the chat room...

It's such a sad story...I'm glad that Dark Wolf and others were able to chat with him and be his online friend and for him to know even strangers cared and were praying and cheering him on..

Will definitely be praying for everyone...
