I actually posted for my first time the other day. Didn't think that I should introduce myself since I guess I am not used to people "caring" and "understanding" what I am going through. My story is long and I will try to keep it as short as possible. I had been overweight all my life, so whenever I went to a Doctor with any pain anywhere it was always "you need to lose weight" or "it's stress". I had a slipped disk in my back and was told that I also had sciatica. Bed rest and anti inflammatories...got better, got worse..no one would really do much since I was over weight. This June I will be 7yrs post op gastric by-pass RNY..I was 332 pounds and I lost 200. I have been settled at 150 for years now.
Granted I no longer had sleep apnea, but I still had back pain...then a few years ago I started to get pain in my neck. It was intermittent at best, but still painful when it flared up. This went off and on for a while and finally one night I had to get to the ER. Then with a specialist and an MRI...I have a herniated disc C6 C7/degenerative disc disease, and arthritis in my neck. It sits on a nerve that runs down my left arm as well. I can't take any type of anti inflammatories due to my gastric by pass. and I don't sleep more than 2 hours at a time.
I had an injection that was wonderful and lasted almost 4mos...then another that didn't work at all and left me in more pain than ever. I have just come off two weeks at home in bed and off work. I finally gave in and agreed to a surgery consultation, only to find out that it would be a 50/50 chance success rate and the Dr didn't suggest I do it.
I currently have a call into my PM Dr as right now I would love for someone to take me out back and shoot me...the stress, pain, work and kids...
I also have RLS, and get sever migraines.
Personal....I am a single mom 43yrs old, with three children...5, 13, and 16. I work full time the best that I can with a very understanding boss.
