Well Hello Fams & Friends!
Something happened this week that just blew me right out of the water! I got my SSD payback check in the mail!!! WOW! I called them up and the guy I talked to told me that it's highly unusual to get your check that fast and he couldn't explain why or how it happened!! He told me gennerally it takes 3~6 months to get your check back and you almost never get it before your monthly checks start coming!

Evan after my nogoodforcrap shyster lawyer took $6,000.00 out it was still a nice check. Now I have to find out about taxes which I thought they would have taken out? I origianally called the guy at SS to ask about taxes and he told me I didn't have to pay any on SS payouts in Fla!!! Several people including my brother have told me otherwise though!

Anyone know anything about being taxed on SSD payouts???
Thanks and Big Huggy~Wugs to all!
Pete

I live in Maryland, and I never paid taxes on the check (actually it was two checks) I got a check for my youngest daughter she was not 18 yet.  So, I dont know about Fla.  But someone in the ss office should be able to tell you and Social Security is Federal so I am guessing what is good for one state is good for the other.

Enjoy, congradulations, and remeber to put some  in savings.  I wish I had, I went crazy buying my kids and myself things we never could afford before.  So please, save some, I learned the hard way, it does not last forever.

Pete I believe if the combined income of your monthly SSD check and the spouses is over $25.000 a year you have to pay income tax on your SSD. You will have to get a form from SSD office and fill it out & return it to them in order for them to take the tax money out of your monthly check. I may be incorrect on the yearly amount of $25,000 a year but that figure keeps sticking in mind. Look online its there on their website and it tells you all about the tax stuff. I have to pay federal income tax on my monthly check.

I did get my back pay before I started getting the monthly checks too.

Good for you Pete. I don't know about paying taxes on your SSD check, but I'm sure you could find it on the website. Take care. I hope you're having a low pain evening.

love and hugs

Thanks everyone! Well it just so happens that a letter came today from SS and it had two pamflets which answered my questions!

If you are single and have an income of over $25,000, then you are taxed and if you are married and your spouce makes over $33,000 then you are taxed which is me!

So I guess I have to give some back to Uncle Sam anyway! Oh well!
Thanks again for all your help and well wishes!

Score one for the GOOD GUYS!!!

Thanks Everyone!!! I love all of Y'all! Yep now if I could only get this lower back pain under control! It's been really bad since my trip north 3 weeks ago! I haven't been able to go out fishing at all> GRRRRRRR! I'm terrified to go out on my boat and the sharks have been thick out there! I've been hankerin for some shark on the grill!!

My garden has been doing pretty good this year! Been eating plenty of zuchini, cukes, beans (green & yellow) and my maters are starting to ripen up nice, just picked the first ones the other day! I haven't eatin tomatos in soooo long at a dollar each there's no way I'm buyin them!!! Oh, my peppers are just about ready too but I'm gonna let them turn red> more vit.C!!!

My sunflowers are about 8'~10' and just starting to flower! One thing we have plenty of is sun!!! No watermellons yet though, I'm not sure why they are not coming out yet as the vines are growing everywhere! Maybe they need a real soaking and we have only had a couple of 15~20 minute thunder storms this last week. Before that it's only rained once or twice in the last 4 months!! We are in a bad drought here! I've been trying to do my rain dance but w/ a bad back it ain't easy! Maybe thats the problem!!!
Big Hugs to all!!
Your non-fishin & no watermellon farmer Buddy>

Pete, same here in Texas, ain't been no rain in months, we are now on water resrictions, (SP?)
and have to water on odd days to match our odd address...and no water on Saturdays, but
I have a small shrub/tree out back and it's going to get water...it's so pretty, gotta keep that one...
So we need the rain too....and had three days at 105 f already....and today is only supposed to be 96...
well wishes to you ...I'll be in San Antonio over the weekend but it's a quick trip for a conference...

Chart, we have a well and I really starting to worry about running out of the wet stuff if we don't get some serious rain soon! I have about 10 dead trees on my property now due to the drought which will have to be cut down> Grrrrrr!
We've had this property for 6 years and I've never lost that many trees in one year! The only thing is that these are weed trees or fast growing junk trees which I should get rid of anyway.
Last week I lost a live oak (a good tree!) in a quick tease of a storm that only lasted 15 minutes but had some pretty high winds that broke the tree in 1/2 about 12' up. It took me 3 days to cut it down, cut it up and put all the limbs on our ever growing "burn pile" and stack the logs on my log pile> OUCH!!!
I actually sat in a chair while cutting the tree up w/ my chain saw cause I couldn't bend over w/ my crazyback! The chair helped my back a lot but not so much for my neck and hands> (carpol tunnel!) which kept going numb on me> GRRRRR!
GRRRR = Whining!

Chart, did I ever tell you I lived in Austin from 81' to 86'? Oh how I loved that town back then! We moved there right after getting married to get a new start and to get away from all my so called friends that were such a bad influence on me back in the "Just say Yes Days"!!!

I figured my marrage would never last if we stayed in Joisey so we followed the Yellow Brick Road down to the "Heart of Texas"!!! Thats where my oldest Son Joe was born on 6/6/85! He actually has a deploma from U.T. from when he was in a study on new borns, so he's a Long Horn to boot!! His B.D. a couple days ago and the week before he called me and told me he is getting married> Holy Smokes!!!!!!!!!!!!

He wants to get hitched up prior to his deployement to the middle east this July! YIKES! They want to do a Nike Wedding>"Just Do It" in Seattle w/ a Just-O-Pease then do a BIG wedding for her next year when his little Brother (Pete Jr.) can be there as his Best Man of course! If I know my sons, Joe won't get married in a Big Ta-Do wedding w/o his Brother> They are very, very, very, very close!!!

So it looks like that SSD $$$ came at the right time cause We are not going to miss my oldest's weddings> either one of them!!! Now we have to start getting ready! Need to find someone to watch all our pets and maybe water my garden?? That ain't gonna be easy! Anybody want a vacation in Hell> Summer in Fla. to do some house sitting, dog, cat, birds and horse feeding along w/ some garden tending? I think this is the wrong place to be asking w/ Y'all being a bunch of Pain Heads but what the hay!!!

Well my hands are numb and it's time to put my tens on and git goin out to do my afternoon chores (5:30~dark!)

Love ALL Y'ALL!!!
Pete

awe, congrats on your boy getting married...Maybe we should get my daughter and your younger son hooked
up...but she has 3 yrs left of University....She wants to be a band director of middle school age kids...
Sorry about that live oak it must've made a heck of a mess...wish I could cut mine down as it's a messy tree
always drops leaves and I just can't keep up with that dang tree...we rake and rake and rake...and
most of it's done by me, or it doesn't get done...Pete, looks like you got a 30 percent chance of rain
tomorrow I hope you get it...we've got 0% chance of rain in Texas....We are already thinking about maybe a move
maybe back to Colorado Springs, (but after Jasmine graduates)...the weather is nice there in Colorado....
