I have had a bad evening. My back has really been hurting and I am really sad. Sometimes it feels like the chronic pain has taken over every aspect of my life. I'm just really tired of being in pain. I have been having so so days the last few days, but tonight is just really awful. It seems everything that I do doesn't help.

I even took an oxycodone(5 mg) and two Bayer Back and Body before we went shopping to Walmart and I was ok while I was gone. When I got home is when all h$%# broke loose.

My husband put some BioFreeze on my back about an hour ago, and the affects have worn off. I feel like screaming if it would do any good. I have been having a lot of problems about the last 2-3 weeks with my left hip hurting . I think the bursitis is acting up, as it's swelled up.

I'm so glad to be able to come here and vent or cry and you all know where I'm coming from. I sure wish that none of us have to be in chronic pain. It's really hard to live with at times.

Thank you all for listening.

love and hugs

Hi Loretta....

It must be in the air because I'm having a really lousy night, too.  I'm so sorry you are suffering.  I wish I had more words of comfort to add.... but sometimes there just aren't the right words to say - except that I would give you a hug if I could.  And I'll pray for you.

Hoping tomorrow is a better day for both of us.  I'm laying here w/ 3 lidocaine patches on my neck, back and wrist.  Uggghhh.  I get tired of this mess, too.

Hope you can get some sleep.
Take care, Loretta.....

Hey Loretta, maybe now is the time to talk to your dr about an increase in your Fentanyl patch. If you are having more pain consistently, then you may need an increase. The patch can work very well if you have the correct dose.

As for the bursitis I would call the dr and get an appt and go in to see him/her, it will not get better on its own, only worse. I get it in my left hip more than the right and it makes a person feel miserable. Bursitis pain is a totally different type of pain in my book. The last time I had it, I was given a shot of Toradol because I cannot have steroids anymore and it really helped and fast.

Take care.

         Morning Loretta!

Sorry...to hear the pain issue is worse for you. I agree, that maybe you need an increase to help you out.

Maybe the heat is playing a part in some of this as well?

When is your next check-up? Hopefully soon!

Loretta,
I'm sorry that your in so much pain. It does seem to "take over" some days. I know that feeling. I hope you have a better day then you did your night. I don't have much more to add as everyone has said what you might be able to do for some help and pain relief.

If all else fails, close your eyes real tight and pretend you on a nice warm sunny beach....cute men in speedo's...oh shoot ruined that one hahah...

Sending you some BIG gentle hugs (( ))...Sorry to hear you are having such a hard time...

I agree with talking with your Dr. about managing your pain better if you are having such large spikes...if they are consistent...than upping the Fentanyl patch...can't remember if you change it ever 72 or 48 hours....or if it's just spikes sometimes...then maybe upping the oxycodone strength or frequency to use when needed...

And sorry for not knowing...have you gotten any injections lately with corticosteroids to help with the bursitis? Or as Stray mentioned..getting one with Toradol to help with the inflammation...

Certainly glad you come here and let us know what's going on...Believe me...over the years living with CP I've had plenty of terrible days where both the pain and my mood is so bad and sad:(...Another recommendation is maybe seeing a counselor for a few months that deals with CP to help as well...

We are here for you...and all of us giving you are collective love!!

Thank you all so much for the support. I knew I could count on you guys and girls to be here for me.

I get my pain meds from my pcp, and the time I went in with my back the last time, she said that if she increased my meds, I would regret it later. I don't know what that means, but I was so aggravated.

I went to a clinic called NY Rehab and the doctor there told me that she would get me stable and then she would ask my pcp to take over prescribing my meds. She did get me stable, but now I'm not so stable, and I don't know whether to try to see her again, or find another pain management doctor. When I agreed to see her, I felt like it was my last chance of seeing a pain management dr.

I had saw a good one back about 4-5 years ago, but I messed up with him because I kept missing appointments, and he dismissed me. I called back there one day about 3 months ago, and they are not taking my insurance now (medicaid). I printed off a list of pain management drs last night, and I plan to call them, and see if they will take my insurance.

Well, I'll go now. You all take care, and I hope you all have a low pain evening.

love and hugs
